the silence game

Suggestions:

Mumble like you are saying something under your breath. That should get a nasty "What did you just say"

Give here whatever she asks for during the silent treatment.

Pick up the phone when there's no one on it, act like you are having a conversation, and in the middle of it say "I don't know, she's not talking to me right now", or "I think she went out, I don't hear her". "I'd ask her but she's apparently lost the power of speech at this point in time."

Leave the toilet seat up. That should get her talking.

I'm loving this, especially the last bit ;) I'll be using that one next time

My wife never has given me the silent treatment she is very vocal, I'm certain it's a cultural thing. Early in our marriage I was the brooder. She would go off and get something off her chest and be done. Days later I would still be brooding and she wouldn't even know why. We have learned to meet in the middle she is lest demonstrative and I almost never brood. For a while I went overboard and had to find a middle ground. I'll never forget the look of shock on her face the first time I yelled at her to "Just shut up." Now I am vocal too but more polite I say things like "Hey, give it a rest".
I remember the day I was finally over the passive agressive crap. She went into a store and said she would be right back. After waiting in the car for sometime I found myself thinking about how I would make her feel bad about making me wait. Then I realized what a waste of time that was and headed for the bookstore. When we met up later at the car she was happy I had spent time doing what I want.

Man, I don't miss the days of being in a relationship. Love stinks. :smug:

AND YOU HAVE A MICROPHONE SO WE WILL LISTEN TO EVERYTHING YOU HAVE TO SAY ! :p

I hate to go all serious/philosophizer, but it seems to me that all this advice on how to make a relationship work is largely akin to the old *best______ for ______* threads- I have learned what works for me & mine, but it may not garner you and your SO the same results. My wife makes me insane at times, but it's worth it(for me/us)in the end, I think...:ninja::cool:

I hear you, us brooding types are great fun :D.

I love how in relationships arguenents sometimes turn into games and both parties know he arguement was stupid and they do somethibg like the silent game just to drive the other crazy in a weird kinda rivaling brother and sister way. I cant explain it very well but to those of you who know. Yea xD

I don't get the games, silent treatment, shrug off, nagging or "you are the bane capital of my existence!" thing. I hear about the silent treatment stuff, usually from my friends that are divorced.

7+ years in, haven't seen the wife mad yet, but it may happen one day. Luckily she's practical, logical and extremely rational, rarely ever emotional and when she is it's either happy or sad. I'd say you should look for someone like my wife. It's really really easy to be married in my opinion, at least so far.

Yes, she has woman parts, I've seen them.
