I'm in, this is my first bass, although I've played both drums and guitar for 30+ years. I'm totally digging this thing, amazingly comfortable to play for my smaller hands and can pretty much cop any tone I want from it. And I'm totally digging playing bass, to the extent that I have some guitars and amps to sell.

Good, and bad news guys. I had to send the SR1300 back due to a problem with the neck, and I didn't like how it sounded through my effects. The good news is I have come to realize how much I love my 7.5lb SR600 with the Ash body, and the (my fave) B20 bridge. I'm probably the oddball here, but I like the Bart system w/250-600 mid freq switch better (which stays on 600Hz). The 700Hz position on the Premium seemed rather thin sounding, but the 450Hz was pretty nice.

You know ... all my other Ibanez basses came with spot-on fretwork, but not the Premium.

cut and boost take mids out or adds in mids just like your bass and treble adds and takes away.
The midsweep determines which mid frequency hi mids through low mids (as you turn the knob) gets cut or boosted.

What is the difference between mid cut/boost & mid frequency sweep?

I've got 2 SRs with 4 knobs (07' SR400/08'SR405), and none of the knobs are push/pull. One of the knobs is a stacked bass-treb boost/cut, the rest are single controls which include mid sweep, volume, and blend.

My 84' Roadstar II has a push/pull splitter.

So, since I had these stock knobs from my Cerro laying around after needing new ones to go with the Pope preamp, I put them on my new SR5SMLTD....I think they look much better than the plastic ones;

BTW, I'm really enjoying this bass!

Man, I sure hope Ibanez considers moving this from an LTD model to a standard instrument in their lineup. That thing is just beautiful!

The sweetwater exclusive black hardware is just so much better.

I've got a question for Premium owners.

I just purchased an SR1300, and I've noticed that in passive mode - the bass & mid controls don't do anything (as I expected), however the treble seems to be partially on. As you cut the treble - it really tones down as does the volume in full cut.

Is this normal?


I've been eyeballing this one for a week or two, and just couldn't resist the grain pattern on this one ... the clincher was the black hardware; a "Sweetwater Exclusive" (it normally comes with gold that I'm not really a fan of).

That is just a beautiful bass. If I had that I would have D-Cline Designs make me some custom wood knobs to match the Body wood and top with marker dots or line in the Abalone inlay that is on the fretboard dots. I've owned a SR5BBLTD and they are fantastic built and playing basses.

Here's my go to bass at the minute. I've had it over a year. I've been switching between this and my jazz for a while, and I always seem to go back to this. It's light and the tonal options are great. Always gets a great response from other musicians I play with regarding sounds and aesthetics.

Sign me up! I was always a little biased against Ibanez basses. They have tons of cheap ones at GC with bad setups and they did nothing for me.

But I recently bought a SR1800 online from GC to give heir higher end line a try and OMG this bass is incredible! The tone, playability and looks of this bass in unparalleled, imo. The neck is amazingly comfortable and the big singles sound amazing.

Truly love this bass!!!

I can't understand why these ibby's don't get more love on this forum. They are amazing!

Just took receipt of my first SR, SR655BBF. Insanely good deal from Pro Audio Star. As in, way cheaper than the used good condition SR505 models I was considering. Now, we'll see if I take to pups, but it's nice and light like I hoped.

Joined the club for Christmas. This is my first bass, having played that other tinkly thing for like 20 years or so. Shiny new candy apple red SR300E. This beat out a couple of LTD's that were twice the price, it just felt so right

I recommended a 300E for a friend and he's loving it. I almost picked one up for myself since I it felt and sounded great. Congrats on the new bass!
