Not sure what Ibanez was thinking. This is poor QC. The body looks like it was made from two different basses.

I wish we could get the color for the 305 in the states. That is a cool bass!View attachment 2854143 SR305e iron pewter
This is the one I sent back for the same reason. Looked like two different species of wood! Not sure what Ibanez was thinking. This is poor QC. The body looks like it was made from two different basses.

Yikes! Was that from Sweetwater?!This is the one I sent back for the same reason. Looked like two different species of wood!
No, it was from Musician's Friend. No pictures available there as on Sweetwater, but they were great about exchanging it for me. It generated quite a thread when I first posted it on TalkBass. Mismatched wings on a brand new bass. Keep or return?Yikes! Was that from Sweetwater?!
Does it have to be an army issue boot blouse? Can it be from, say... old navy?
Carol Kaye used a rubber band at the bridge, iirc. But for the life of me I dunno how she got some of those tones from an SRX700. Mine always seemed to have two sounds ... growly mid-range or OFF.![]()
Yeah, her tone was sort of distinctive. Works great in some styles though.
I've been playing my SRs all morning and I'm surprised to discover that I prefer the EXP-CAP pickups to the Bart Mk1s. The basic CAPs - with my rig anyway - seem more growly yet with a wider range of tones. I guess I just got used to their tone after playing them for so long. Gonna pull the Barts and try to trade 'em.
Yes the do. The stock PowerSpan I believe. The SDGR is just to denote the Soundgrear line. The model is SR370E.
I think the stock pickups are already close to a RIC timbre.
Do they look like this?
