New spaceman today! Got a great deal on an Atlas, so I jumped on it. My go-to bass lately has been a Gibson SG which has significantly less output than all my other basses, so I really needed a boost to correct that.

this pedal sounds great! It’s mostly a clean boost, but I do notice a little bit extra low end and some more harmonic overtones, but that could just be from my GK 700RB being pushed harder with this pedal.

where the magic really happens is turning on the atlas along with the Redstone. Boy is it the most pleasing warm tone I’ve heard with a solid state amp! I’ll have to get some sound samples posted later

Here's a quick demo of my boar sounds. First clip is clean SG bass into GK 700RBI. Second is the atlas only into the GK. Next is the Atlas into the redstone with gain almost all the way down (i use this tone as a warm tube style drive). and lastly is the atlas into the redstone and into a fuzzrocious lil fella for my heavier overdrive.

I haven’t tried the RS. But I really really really like the S6. I could see how it would/could be an “always on” tone enhancing type pedal. Unfortunately, the one I bought had a severe popping noise, in addition to it picking up some 60cyc hum. So I sent it back to the reverb seller. I did order a mercury. Im stoked to try it. However, I can see myself wanting to purchase another S6 as an “always on” pedal. I need to try the S6 with out the Lehle Sonic Spark pedal. I’d like to see how it affects the tone with the pedal off. The Sonic Spark is one of those that’s an always on pedal for me.

I still maintain the Saturn is a special pedal.

While it seems most of us are using it as a light drive, the "harmonic booster" aspect is readily apparent when running the drive below the break-up point.
It seems to enhance the overall signal.

100% agree. When i sat down w it at home and really tried to dial it in, it became appearance that his was more a tone enhancer than OD. The Sonic Spark and Saturn together sound really good. But for this board, my space is extremely limited. I really want to see who the Sonic Spark and Saturn compare as the are more similar than different.

Can’t get the link to work. I’m curious if a Saturn set mildly into the RS could do the same thing?

I asked SE about doing another Aphelion, and how close it is to the Saturn, here's what they had to say,

"The Aphelion is what gave birth to the Saturn. The Aphelion does have a single FET stage in it, which made me wonder how 2 of those stages would sound. That's how the Saturn came to be.

The main ingredient in the Aphelion is an OTA. They've gradually been getting obsoleted, and EOL'd. I have heard that a few upstart wafer fabs have started doing them again though.

I wouldn't be opposed to doing the Aphelion again. For that one, I know I could improve it a ton! That's probably a little farther out in 2022, I would say."

There's a generalization that tube amps sound "better" because they produce even order harmonics, which results in a smooth tone.
And solid-state amps produce odd order harmonics, which can sound "harsh".

It goes beyond my pay grade.
All I know is if it sounds good, it is good.

Despite the price, I still want to get my hands on a Mercury IV, Aphelion, and Saturn V.
To see how they compare to the others
Curious how you'll like the MIV.

The Atlas really opens it up.

Now I think I must secure one.

The MIV to me is pure tonal magic. The bass boost on this pedal sounded absolutely marvellous into my rig at home (Mesa Bass Strategy > Coffee Cab Jinjerbass 212). It doesn't get too dirty but really brings the signal to live. I definitely have to check it with my band setup and a/b it with the RS.
