I think the 28.6" scale market is tiny so the Mini fills a tiny, not a huge void.
OTOH this bass is a dream modding platform. The bones are solid and everything else works well but it's super cheap. To me it makes more sense to buy a cheap instrument if you're going to replace everything in order to have your favorite tuners, bridge and pickup. The stock cheapies can be discarded without a thought.
Now people who buy custom shop instruments and immediately replace parts like the pickups...those I understand less.

That's definitely your opinion. There's a huge void that only the Squier Mini is filling; a 28" scale Fender style bass. You'd have to hold out and pray that a Fender Precision Jr. comes along for sale, and that's going to cost you upwards of $800. So, for just a couple hundred dollars (new bridge, new tuners, new pickup and electronics, new strings, professionals setup if you can't do it yourself), you still end up with a cheaper instrument than the rare Jr. I can't think of any other companies offering a bass with the same features as the Mini or Jr.

Absolutely! The last nice looking Precision Junior I saw listed was in 2018, and they were pushing for $2k!
I don't know what they eventually settled for, but it was certainly more than $800! From what I recall, they were only manufactured for 2 years, in the very early 2000's.

The newer ones are fine for impromptu jams and probably for small gigs and parties.
My long time Bass player and Drummer came by last night just to hang out when we decided
to have a little jam that lasted over an hour. Me son was out with his Jazz bass so we grabbed my
daughters little Red Squier and plugged it in to the Rumble 350 w/112. It sounded great.
And he pretty much has consistently played his vintage Fender Jazz Basses for over 40 years.
A convert for him ?...no, but he had a great time with it and it sounded sweet through the Rumble.
I posted this pic before but "bang for the buck" I'd buy the little

Squier again.

Oh and when we were looking for the mini percision bass I remembered those little ones
that were out quite a while ago and they were quite scarce and expensive.
Smart move on Fenders part to bring them back.....
but, how about a mini Jazz bass

After taking a can if black satin Krylon to my PG ( a suggestion I got here a while back, and worked out great), I kinda didnt like the contrast with the shiny silver parts so much. Well, i was just given a couple dusty old chicken-head knobs, that fit perfectly in the stock pot shafts, and im kinda digging it !

Have any of the mini Precision owners experienced any neck dive with the mini precision bass or there is no neck dive?? Im pretty much going to go with the mini precision bass or the ibanez mikro.. leaning more towards the mini precision but the headstock of ibanez makes neck dive less of a problem.. if squier mini precision doesnt have neck dive then i would go with that bass for sure. Im thinking of getting it in red and get the white dimarzio split p pickup and then white stratocaster knobs might be cool. i'd have to see it to actually know if thats how i want it to look. If the ultralight tuning machines help solve any neck dive regarding the mini precision then i have no problem putting those on. Thanks for anyones help and opinions. Cheers !!

Mine balances with the neck horizontal when standing up instead of having the neck pointing up. I wouldn;t call that neck dive.
Get it, it's awesome and I don't use that word lightly.

Fender 40-95 rounds cut to size. I think they're called 7250. Afaik Fender doesn't make short scale strings.

The flats for Mini are now a standard item! They didn't address my suggestion to produce a set of rounds and a set of tapes, too, but maybe if the flats sell decently they'll be open to those later down the road.

At least you tried, but I like the concept. Speaking of pickups and knobs, I'm overall satisfied with the electronics on my Mini P-Bass, which is now converted to fretless. If they're usually cheap (hopefully not) in sound quality, then I guess I got very lucky. However, if I have the money, I might try out the Billy Sheehan Relentless pickups on my Mini P-Bass. I replaced the original bridge with a HIMASS one. I was positively surprised that it managed to fit well for a small-sized Squier bass. I took this bass to various jamming sessions, and I love the sound results. The bass now has GHS pressure-wound strings.

Phil McKnight put those pickups on a Mini P so you might find this video useful.

Just bought a mini p. I was very surprised at the quality and of the sound. Already gigged with it. So easy to play and with a rich low end. I'm still using the stock strings but I did add a generic hi mass bridge that had great reviews. Slightly more sustain and great looks. It only cost $21 on Amazon. Are you still giving numbers?

i just wish they made a proper 30" scale p bass. the mini P was just too small for me.
