The way they all talked was entirely that actor's idea. The director liked it so he had all the aliens talk that way. This is something I wouldn't mind a sequel to if they did it right. But knowing the movie business, they'd probably give it to Alex Kurtzman.

A sequel wouldn’t be the same, but a spinoff? Maybe.
Or just do episodes of Galaxy Quest the show, without the show within the show.
8 heard talk of an animated version of that, not sure how accurate that was.
But wouldn’t be the same without Alan Rickman.

But we have this movie which I rewatched recently.

I don't know. The director is still working. If they can get a good writer that likes Star Trek/Galaxy Quest, and you get Adam Driver to replace Rickman like they should've done with the new Harry Potter show, I think it could be great.

Why not? Sigourney Weaver certainly could. She might not want to show as much cleavage. Tim Allen would probably be happy for the work. Sam Rockwell is still great. Adam Driver would be great. What's his name from Monk is still around. The guy who played young Laredo does TV shows, I think. The guy who played the main alien, Dwight Schrute, Missy Pyle. They're all still working and funny. It would be the directing and writing that would make it suck. The actors wouldn't be the problem.

Yes to Adam Driver
Guess it could all work....as Star Trek managed to jump ahead years with aging crew members
Oh...and of course the kid and his friend that were Trekkies and helped land the ship...and get through the chompers!
His Mom played Susan in Seinfeld

The first time I saw this it was with a group of friends who were all Trek fans.
No wives/girlfriends to complain it wasn’t that funny.
(My wife later saw it and had to admit it’s pretty funny, even though many jokes went over her head.)
There was barely a minute or so that passed that at least one of us wasn’t laughing.
And we had a great time going over the movie after.
It’s brilliant

Apparently he has no artistic integrity. A paycheck is a paycheck, but it's disappointing.
