My son and I had a meet and greet with Frakes at a Comic Con in Adelaide some years back. He's a good bloke. We educated him on ANZAC day and it's meaning to Ozzies and Kiwis alike!

I've seen the first five episodes of the abomination. I can't say I'm watching it with an open mind, but I'll get to it. Frakes has directed a lot of real Star Trek episodes, but I don't think it was his directing that made those episodes good.

Unless you're Christopher Nolan or Martin Scorsese, the job of a director is to bring other people's printed words to the screen. In TV, you adhere to the show's "bible" that spells out how things should look and be done.

I've enjoyed all the old treks in their time... But I'm becoming crotchety and don't seem to like anything I watch anymore
I agree, that was a movie that should not have been made. However, the good thing about the movie is that I camped for the night at that very spot, Trona Pinnacles. Very interesting place. While we were hiking around during the late evening I set up my camera to photograph a circular star trail. Canon F-1n, 24mm lens, on K-64.Worst TOS movie, but some humour

They're flailing around trying to figure out what to do with the franchise. Skydance says it’s high priority but clearly they don’t think much of the current shows. Scott Bakula has pitched some kind of revival for Enterprise. Too much pointless diddling around with SNW. SFA had occasional good moments but they were few and far between, usually callbacks to the classic shows. Way too much focus on teen “feelings”.

In 1992, my younger brother created a Star Trek Haggada for a Passover Sedar. He gave me copy in 2020, to which I added images and such (I do graphic design). This past week I mentioned it to a band mate, who asked for a copy, so I did some more updating.
