What, nobody liked my teaser on a new movie? I am sad. I try again.

Star Trek 4 Will Reportedly Be The Franchise's Darkest Movie Yet

Despite this desire for a darker tone, the premise sounds like it could be a hugely fun buddy cop-type time travel action/adventure. The studio again wants to get Chris Hemsworth back as George Kirk opposite Chris Pine as his onscreen son, James Tiberius. Likewise, William Shatner may cameo as the Prime Kirk in a bid to further connect the Kelvin timeline to the mainstream universe.

Edit: This clickbait article says Quentin Tarantino is out as director.

Making a story about George Kirk because George Kirk is an interesting character would be cool. Making a story about George Kirk because he happened to be played by a not-as-famous-as-he-is-now Chris Hemsworth 11 years ago is a clear sign this is a cash grab abomination rather than a creative endeavor.

Working George Kirk into a story centered on the Chris Pine Kirk is fine as long as his appearance makes some sense in terms of the creative endeavor. A movie centered solely on George Kirk is a whole different thing entirely. I mean, who is Chris Hemsworth? ;)

It’s not gonna make sense. The Kelvin time line movies don’t make sense. The Romulan sun exploding wouldn’t take down the Romulan Empire. The Enterprise wasn’t built on the ground or in Iowa. They’re gonna bring time travel into it? This movie will make zero sense, and some people will love it because the lighting, music, and splosions will be impactful for audience members who don’t like or care about Star Trek or science fiction.

Someone must’ve watched ST4, the Voyage Home. So time travel is the next logical step. Maybe a giant space cylinder will attack earth speaking in ostrich, but they went extinct. George Kirk was the Federation’s top expert on extinct flightless birds. Using left over drops of Spock’s red matter, (because it has time travel properties because why not), the Enterprise will swing by the Kelvin before Eric Bana destroyed it to pick up George to take him back to 21st century earth to get a mating pair of ostriches.

In a desolated wide pan shot, a pair of ostriches blink uncomprehendingly at a large black obelisk. The opaque obelisk starts emitting soundless pressure waves, which mesmerizes the ostriches into fashioning rudimentary weapons out of dilithium and spare samsung note 7 parts......a cloud of dust appears over the horizon as Captain Kirk, Captain Picard, and Ernest Borgnine charge over the hill riding sandworms. Uhula and Sulu distract the entourage by undulating madly in silhouette. Frakes appears on the scene and says "computer, end program."

Samuel L. Jackson is Phillip Dupree, but everyone calls him Flip. He’s the Federation ambassador to Andoria. One day whilst making sweet tender love to an Andorian woman, her antennae will suddenly disappear. No one will understand what’s going on. Andorians everywhere start walking into walls and falling down stairs with no understanding of what’s going on. Due to an unfortunate incident some years before involve chronotons and warp plasma, Flip can sense a change in the time line. He gets visions of George Kirk swinging a Klingon Batlef wildly in a field of primitive proto Andorians, slicing off their antennae. Elsewhere in the Federation, colonies suddenly disappear, followed by entire Star systems and eventually the Milky Way implodes just as Flip and the crew of the Enterprise, who are also immune to the changes in the time line because......multiphasic quantum shielding....and go on a adventure through time and space to save the Andorians, rescue the girl, fall in love, resolve daddy issues, and stop injustice and tribbles and Clint Howard and William Shatner and.....I don’t even know any more.

Jim Kirk finds his father, lost in the heat of battle. Slicing off antennae left and right as fleeing cave-Andorians run for their lives. “George Kirk! I know you don’t know me but I’m your son! You have to stop this”

“My son!? That’s impossible. He’s in the future.”

“Dad it’s me. Please you have to stop this.”

Suddenly, we hear a loud crack, and see a shadowed silhouette of what seems to be a red angel time travel suit. The mysterious stranger slowly removes her helmet and.......it’s Michael Burnham! She has an eye patch and half her face is all burnt up. Together, Jim Kirk, Michael Burnham and Abraham Lincoln from the TOS episode The Savage Curtain manage to undo the Cardassian mind control device in George’s head. Bones reattaches the mutilated Andorian’s antennae and the team travels back to the future, thanks to Michael Burnham, Sulu’s great great great etc grand father, and a wise crackin genetically enhanced tribble.

Octo-kirk confronts his younger father and even younger version of himself amid pan flashes and unnecessary explosions......

"What have you done with Pia Zadora?"

Christopher Pike rolls in, stage left, gliding effortlessly in his permanent Peloton, a prison not of his choosing.....

His distorted mouth and disused facial muscles utter out, " a starfleet officer...loves....Pia Zadora...."

Please excuse my ignorance but why would time travel be essential to having George Kirk and James Kirk Prime make cameo appearances? They have logs and data files and video records and such like. ;)

But you're probably right. And time travel is one of my least favorite plot devices in movies.

Edit: Honestly, reboots 2 and 3 are a complete blur to me. I didn't like them much and I can't remember a darned thing except for Leonard Nimoy's final appearance as Spock Prime, which I confess made me blubber a little bit. Just a little.
