anyone notice that the character Morn on DS9 is in almost every episode and never says anything? they even did an episode where he died but didn't really die.. is this the star trek version of a running gag?
That’s pretty much it. His name is a play on Norm from Cheers. Part of the running gag is that other people would always say he was overly talkative. He was apparently quite the ladies man.

Well crud. H&I moved TOS out of 8pm to 1am so they could put in Walker Texas Ranger. :spit:

also...did you know if you type the word s-h-i-t, talkbass automatically changes it to poopie?

here.. watch... poopie

Yes, we noticed, and are not very happy about it. What we've been doing is streaming TOS from Amazon during its "normal" time, and then we'll decide if the TNG episode is a good one or if we'll just stream something else.

I can't filter episodes, I have to watch them all. And have, except for Enterprise which I'm currently bingeing on netflix. Did Discovery get renewed?

Well really bad news about Discovery Season 4 today :( Paramount only, and only in the US and Canada.
This is the 21st century. We have the internet. We have VPNs. There should be no technical issue with streaming/downloading American TV series... Or Canadian. Or Australian. (I'm knee deep in Big Brother Australia VIP as I type.)

There is no technical issue, Paramount own the series and have decided it's only going out on Paramount+, which we don't have in Europe yet. I know you can VPN yourself to the US and stream as if you were there but not sure I can be bothered. Not sure I would even pay Paramount+ for one series anyway.

I’ve posted this guy’s stuff before. Excellent, in depth reviews and background info about the shows and movies. Here he tells the really interesting story of the actress hired to play Janeway before Katherine Mulgrew. Unlike everyone else she had no tv experience and had only done movies so her timing and delivery were all off for tv. After a day and a half of filming she stood up on set and apologized to everyone and walked off. The producers thanked her for doing it then and not six months down the line. She apparently felt really bad about it but did the right thing in the end so the whole show wouldn’t have been screwed and possibly cut off before it began.

Another interesting thing from the video, Garrett Wang (Harry Kim) had repeatedly asked to direct an episode and was turned down and also asked for his character to be promoted from ensign and was turned down. When 7 of 9 came around, someone had to get the boot and he was apparently gonna be the one but he was featured as a sexy tv character in some magazine, so they kept him around and fired Kes.

This is apparently based on what he said in interviews. I’m skeptical. I think they would’ve kept an Asian character for diversity purposes instead of two attractive females, one of which was far more sexualized than the other.

Is it just me that thinks the voice of Kes changed in a weird way from the early episodes? I thought she was an entirely unconvincing character until she returned as bad Kes. Harry was an essential part of the eternal Harry / Tom double act.

Jennifer Lien used a constantly, consistently soft voice for Kes. I don’t know how to properly describe it. A loud whisper? It’s unnatural and off putting, IMO. It was fairly consistent throughout but it did somewhat normalize towards the end when she sorta became a more fully realized character. They gave her longer hair. Put her in more form fitting outfits. But it wasn’t enough to improve ratings and Jeri Ryan took over with her…assets.

Hey, Jeri Ryan is just a great actress, and I don't care how many sci fi geek boys drool over her, she is amazing.

She alone makes Star Trek: Picard worth watching. I'm not denying that she's very sexy, but for my money she's also an A-List actress.

I think she’s a good actress. I’m not sure about A-list.

I liked her singing as well as her acting. Also Seven was clearly the "template" for T'Pol in Enterprise.
