My favorite part is how well the remote control for Spock's body worked. Not only moving the legs, but keeping his torso up and all those stabilizer muscles needed and all seemingly with two joy sticks and some dials. That McCoy, he knows his stuff.
You know for all its faults that episode has at least two things going for it--it's fun, and the characters are all in character
(Now don't get me started on out of character moments in The Way to Eden)

Play an ancestor or descendant--depending on the time period?
If he had a cameo or storyline in STSNW or STD it would have to be ancestor. Time travel having already been used, I can't see STSNW doing it again in season 2.

Since Picard is going to be a vehicle to revisit and send off STTNG, he could play a descendant....

On STD, they could do the alternate universe again and run into the evil James T. Kirk, maybe as a second in command under the emperor. Maybe even do battle with the evil alternate universe President of Earth. That would be a cool send off.

EDIT: That last paragraph is a better story line than any story line STD had for the entire last season.....YMMV, IMO, etc.

I remember when it first aired, I thought I wouldn’t like it (they’re not on a ship travelling to new places, so I thought it would get boring fast). But it became one of my favourite ST series, because it had a great cast with great writers and obviously wanted to try something different.
