I was told that the person responsible (the producer?) for the content of seasons 1 and 2 was replaced with someone else for season 3.

He said the former guy wasn't really a Star Trek fan and was trying to take the franchise in a new direction, but the latter guy was a serious Trekkie and was motivated to pay homage to STTNG as much as possible by filling every episode with fan boy content.

Is that accurate? I have zero knowledge of any of that "behind the scenes" stuff.

NO idea, but this season was everything I wanted

I think you're probably referring to Alex Kurtzman. He's listed as an Executive Producer for S3 but who knows how much involvement he actually had.

It's worth noting that S2 and S3 were allegedly shot back-to-back with no break. Yet they're radically different. I haven't done a deep dive on who did what, but they're almost like two completely different shows.

Edit: "For season three, Alex Kurtzman, Akiva Goldsman, Terry Matalas, Patrick Stewart, Heather Kadin, Aaron Baiers, Rod Roddenberry, Trevor Roth, Doug Aarniokoski and Dylan Massin serve as executive producers". Also S3 had a different showrunner, Terry Matalas (S2 was Akiva Goldsman).

Glad it's over.

Tired of hearing Mr Stewart's voice, Like he was ready to keel over. (Hey I'm old too) <G>

Discovery was not good; only got through half of S2.
Now ready for season 2 of Strange New Worlds and watching reruns of DS9, Enterprise, etc.

There was a whole lot of the principal characters standing around and explaining things for viewers. Then I realized well heck most of these actors are in their AARP years and can’t be expected to be running and jumping and fighting like 35 years ago.

I’m grateful that S3 got made and everyone was able to participate.

Star Trek died with the last episode of Enterprise. Modern Trek will go on for a while. Another couple of years. The next iteration will be in the 30s after the rights get sold again, I'm guessing.

I like some of the new series. Picard was great when they went back to their roots.. and strange new worlds is a blast... Discovery was a giant mistake..but, if they do a new show with Jeri Ryan I think that will be good

We just finished watching season 2 of Discovery last night. While season 2 was better than season 1, they were both pretty bad. Why do they feel the need for each character to give a long soliloquy any time a significant event is about to happen, after which Michael bursts into tears? Like every episode. It's exhausting. I did like Captain Pike - so glad they gave him his own series - and Tig. We may try to watch season 3, as we are on the last couple of episodes of Enterprise. That's a great series, which should have had a few more seasons.

There are a few good moments. Discovery was a dumpster fire from beginning to end. SNW was okay. One half of one season out of three of Picard was okay. I think it mostly stinks.

Their choice of "Jack" was a big mistake. He was so mono-dimensional and unlikable to me....

Rewatching TNG; Quark is so good. A great actor. He said a line yesterday when they were talking about selling weapons.

I'm watching Season 3 of Picard right now. It's pretty awesome. I like it much better than anything since the old Voyager and Next Generation. Not counting the new movies. Lol. I love those.

We watched the first episode of season 3 of Discovery tonight. That was the best episode of this series so far, though that's a pretty low bar. Tomorrow we watch the last episode of Enterprise. They say it's the worst of the series. Maybe, but I really enjoyed the series.

Seth MacFarlane has been quoted as saying there's a 50-50 chance for Season 4. I take that to mean nobody knows. It's probably a very expensive show to make. Ownership traces to Fox who probably doesn't want to let it go for cheap but also isn't sure it attracts enough viewers to make it worth investing in further. That's just my speculation.

It would be perfect for Apple TV+, who has nothing else like it and they could afford it.

I’ve watched 2 or 3 episodes but keep forgetting which streamer it is on in Australia. Obv not one I usually watch or I’d see it more often.

We watched all 3 seasons of The Orville. Season 1 was a little childish, like it was written by 13 year old boys, but otherwise entertaining. Season 2 got better, and season 3 was great.

We watched the series finale of Enterprise tonight. It wasn't as bad as I remember it, and quite enjoyed it, in fact. We also watched the second episode of the third season of Discovery. It too, was a fairly good episode. Perhaps it took them a couple of seasons to find their stride. Time will tell.
