Folded horn 2-15...not...worth...it...?

You can leave now. Bye.

No, seriously.

Yeah, not for what the dude is trying to get for it. Just because it says Sunn on it, doesn't mean I am going to spend all my money. It wasn't a good deal. And since when was a genre defined by the actual gear?

I really hope this music doesn't turn elitist or anything. Isn't that the beauty of Stoner Metal? I saw Weedeater and Zoroaster last Friday, so good, and everyone was welcoming. I'm just just an old punk rocker trying to find new music to listen to and explore.

I thought it was a given that we all had folded horns in the basement or garage. It's not something we talk about since they come in every doom band starter kit.
:D

I have a feeling you and I are going to get along just fine.

edit: regarding the elitist thing:
This genre's been slowly stagnating for (almost) ten years now, mostly because the newer bands spend so much time badging up (if ya know what I mean) and not so much time working on the music.

Plus, the hipsters found us. :rollno:

Indeed.

Hey man, new Electric Wizard was great, I'm loving the new Weedeater, Zoroaster continues to put out solid music, Black Tusk gets better every time I listen to them, new Crowbar is heeaavvvyyy, and lots of others out there putting out fantastic records like High on Fire, Bison BC, Baroness, Torche, etc. The scene is not dead! Have faith!

The problem is, is that you just mentioned way too many bands. When you have more than three bands, a scene is officially trendy. Sorry, those are the rules.

also, regarding the price of sunn gear, they've blown up way too disproportionately. I want a sunn rig, i also don't have the 1500+ to get one. The reason sunn rigs are popular in stoner/sludge/doom is because of their cheap loudness. They are no longer cheap, and hipsters still want them because they look cool and hipsters have the money to buy them.

I want one for how they sound, and the fact that they are huge 2-15 cabinets. not because they're sunn. *sigh* what's a broke fella to do? My rig needs more...

might be able to get an ampeg 1-18 for cheap. not sure if want tho....

Peavey

*sigh* my post wasn't trying to be elitist. I just really really want a sun folded horn 2-15 is all. really badly. :scowl:

I wasn't calling you elitist, I just have different gear needs than you do and was trying to solicit some advice. I was hoping someone here has had experience with the Peavey 2-15". My current cab is a folded horn cab. I don't need more cabs like it.

I checked the Denver CL ads and didn't see anything too promising for you at the moment :(

Thanks bro. I have been watching them like a hawk. There is a pawn shop selling the 2nd gen century head and 2-15" cab for 3 bills. I am going to see if I can talk them down at all. I might have to go with that.

Sunn/Acoustic, yeah it used to be cheap. I actually owned some old school acoustic stuff back in the days. I went looking to buy a 360 head and was shocked how much more they cost now then 15 years ago.

So, cheap 70's tone = Peavey. Thats the tone I am going for but with a little bit of crunch to it. I also looked for some 8-10" cabs around town and they are pretty scarce right now.
