The Struts

I happened upon this UK band about a year ago - one song in a broadcast of some festival on Palladia. I though they were fantastic. I tipped my daughter off to them and she grabbed the EP on iTunes as soon as it was available.

Anyway - they have been on a rather fast track here in the US since the summer, with lots of airplay (at least in the DC area), and tonight (Mon) they are on Seth Meyers' show.

My daughter and I got tickets to see them in a smallish DC venue, show is tomorrow night last night of their US tour, tix were bought back in June for $10. Show is sold out and Stubhub rates are nearing $200 following their opening slot at a radio holiday show at a local arena.

I think it just might be a bit nuts! I'm really pumped to see these guys right as they take off. Feel like I'm 23 or something.

Anyway, just thought I'd share. If anyone has seen 'em, I'd be interested in hearing your thoughts.

Yeah - that's what I thought when I first saw them on Palladia.

They have done some opening slots for The Stones last year, and Motley Crew have tapped them to open on their final shows. I'll see them tonight in a 400 person SRO club with my 16yo daughter. Should be pretty exciting.
Yeah, that would be the way to see them. I liked what I heard because it is like the rock & roll of the 70s. Nothing at all pretentious about their music, it is just straight ahead rock. That is hard to find these days.

My daughter saw The Struts recently and raved about it. Here is her review for Bandwidth Culture: Link Removed

Cool review, she writes well.

It's really fun to have picked up on them, quite by accident, way before the US was catching on. I NEVER manage to do that, I am always late to the party, usually by an album or two. Glad to have been able to tip my daughter off to them as well, some day she'll be able to say "I saw them when...."
