The Strymon Timeline: Damn straight, it needs it's own thread

Oh, I posted this on TGP in a (one of the many) Timeline threads. Thought you'd all find it usefull. Just right click on either one and 'save as' whatever. They are set up as 8.5x11" pages, so are ready to print.

Hey Gents.

Just thought I'd pass this awesome accessory along. Found out about this from Behndy. I'm probably late to the party and everyone else already knows....but just for those few that don't:

It sucks Strymon didn't make it....and it sucks paying $150 for something that should be selling for $50....but it looks totally freaking worth it.

Mine was 6 weeks......and there was absolutely no notfication from them...nothing saying "this is the expected wait"....or "it's in transit".....I just got home from work one day and there it was. There was something they said on one of their facebook statuses that led me to believe they do "runs" of them. So some people might wait two weeks...some might wait seven. That might be totally false but that's the impression I got from it...something like "we should have the update ready for when the next shipment of Timelines goes out".

Totally worth the wait, though.

Update available:

Invalid Link Removed

We’ve been working hard over the past few months to add some cool new features to TimeLine. The update is now ready for release and you can download it here.

What’s new:
1. Preset naming – Display an (optionally) scrolling 16 character preset name, or the bank number
2. Global Tap tempo – Keep the most recently tapped tempo across all of your presets
3. 5 second Spillover* – Once you’ve played for at least 5 seconds on a patch, the current sound will spill over when you change to a new patch
4. Tap averaging – Tap tempo now averages your taps to more easily zero in on the desired tempo. Some have better rhythm than others ;)
5. Kill dry – Mutes your dry signal for use in a parallel effects loop
6. Looper Undo to initial loop & Redo – Undo all overdubs and revert to the first recorded loop. Redo will bring back the recorded overdubs.
7. New dedicated MIDI CC for Bypass – Bypass or Engage TimeLine via MIDI regardless of which preset you are currently on
8. Also … new MIDI CCs for Looper Level, Looper Undo, Looper Redo, and Infinite Repeats
9. Loop transitions are now smoother
10. Ability to record 100% wet with the looper
Some miscellaneous “under the hood” bugs were also addressed with this update.

In order to take full advantage of the new factory preset names, you should follow the optional step of initializing your presets after updating the firmware. Additionally, we have provided a sysex file that only initializes presets in Banks 50-99 if it’s desirable to preserve edits you’ve made in banks 0-49.

lol. yeppers. just did the update, going through and renaming patches now.

urm. can't find it in the manual or on their site, just shot an email to them, but does anybody know how to do a midi or sysex dump of patches to backup settings?

yer. annoys me that it's freaking BEHRINGER that thought of this, but i thought one of the most elegant solutions to the Hardware Knobs For Software Saved Settings dilemma of trying to figure out where the knobs where set at when loading up patches was how on the Bass V-Pro they had led's around each knob. so when you load up a patch the lights would jump to reflect where you were set at.

very cool. would be neat if more multi-unit manufacturers would do that. super useful and all.

but yah. backups are a MUST. so good.

behndy - first you need to turn on names in the global menu (hold down the value knob for a bit)... you can also choose to scroll them.

then once you are in a patch you want to name - click the value knob to go into parameters and turn in near the end (it's right before the expression parameters).
