Do you need the DI? I think of the Noble, Nobellium, Khan, etc as tube DIs, not preamps like the UA. To me the Sushi Box parallel to a Noblellium would be the Finally, not the UA, hence my earlier reply. UA is great, UA + Finally is fantastic!

I've been using the Nobelium for a while now and I think of it as a preamp first and a DI second. It's a fantastic preamp and has tons of clean power on tap and it just happens to have a super nice DI on the side.

If I was going to buy something off the shelf, I'd be looking really hard at that Venus Z. That thing looks to have some seriously cool potential.

Goes to show how versatile it can be. And different strokes for different folks and all. :thumbsup:

Also agree the Venus Z sounds pretty cool!

I am standing pat for now until and unless I [hopefully] start to play live again then it will be a must have as IO am very fond on the GK sound. Besides I have spent my budgeted fun money for this part of the year on a Future Impact v4 and Zoom MS70CDR+. I am trying not to run up and of my credit cards.

Oh awesome, thanks for sharing. I got so backlogged with building I was worried the one I sent out wouldn't get to him in time, glad he got it and definitely looking forward to hearing his thoughts on it.

Me too, he mentioned in that video that the Finally "Sounds good and that's all I'll say for now."

So the new pedalboard is wired and powered up, just some cable management and straightening up of pedals to do before it's first outing this weekend. I think the a More might be needed (wanted) to replace the tube boost on the right, and now that walrus audio have announced their stereo harmonic trem I might be making some changes, but not for a little while.
The combination of the UA and Finally on that side of the stereo split are really awesome, they're different enough from the oracle to give that alternative amp sound, but without sounding wrong.

I unfortunately am not an upright player, though I've come really close to pulling the trigger once or twice on a good deal. I would also be very interested in hearing thoughts on Venus Z through upright, which is part of why I added "Venus Z has an input impedance of 1MΩ, but an input impedance of up to 10MΩ is available on request for a small fee" to the listing.

The MORE and Finally are good starters IMO and add something to most setups, so even if you don't like it for your fretless you will probably enjoy it for other parts of your setup.
Underground Accelerator is another very popular choice, and functions as either a preamp or a boost which can get into overdrive territory.
I enjoyed using my Carvin AC40 with my Slampegg. But YMMV as always.
