The Sushi Box FX Secret Society

Guys, I am really struggling. I have a birthday coming up and my wife wants to know which one I want, Neptunium or Finally V2.

Current pedalboard signal chain is:

Empress Effects Bass Compressor > MXR Vitage Bass Octave > Line 6 HX Stomp > MXR Bass Preamp.

My new Sushi Box will replace the MXR Bass Preamp.

I am leaning towards the Neptunium because of the EQ. Really want the tube preamp to soften the HX stomp.

Any thoughts or suggestions?
I'd say Neptunium given the limited quantity that will be built. Finally is a fine choice that @Sushi Box FX seems committed to continue, as well he should as it is brilliant.

I think it might depend on which MXR Preamp you’re replacing. If the M80, and you like a bit of drive, then the Finally might be better as I believe it can overdrive. If you’re replacing the M81, like I did, then you’re likely enjoying a solid clean base tone, and so the Neptunium will be better suited.

It is the MXR M81. My thoughts exactly. Thanks!

I don't think you guys will regret the Neptunium! That would be my suggestion too based on future availability.

Here's my updated board with my Sushi Boxes, and the Messenger Jr. that was mentioned a few weeks back. I'm really digging this setup.

Great job here. I bet your board sounds amazing.

My Neptunium arrived late last week and I finally got a chance last night to install it and have a cursory play.

Absolutely love it, and while I haven’t had a chance to A/B with my Noble (I’m not expecting exactly the same pedal of course), I was really enjoying the tones I was able to achieve.

The Neptunium replaces an MXR M81, which is a fantastic pedal, but when this board is a kinda ‘flyboard’ of sorts to my main board, having a solid approximation of my Noble taking up a similar footprint to the M81 is a no-brainer!

The board is powered by a Cioks Sol with the NP being run at 12v (550ma). I have other plans for the Overdrive and Chorus spots, but we’re a few weeks off those being finished. Board is a Pedaltrain Nano+.

We would love to hear your opinion on the differences between the Neptunium and your Noble while you're breaking it in.

What’s the reason for that? I don’t need phantom power. Just trying to understand
Just dawned on me that the Neptunium's 1/4" output may (or may not) be hot enough to supply the yorkville's balanced trs line input. Neptunium's 1/4" out is not balanced so there will be some signal loss. There's no harm in trying.
