On an unrelated note, I just finished up a handful more JC Emerald and Black Eye II, so if you've been waiting to place an order until you could get more than one at a time, you're good to go now.

Or if you've been waiting to see a video of me throwing a Black Eye II from a second story window onto pavement in order to prove that my pedals can stand up to a harsh gigging environment and keep on running, you'll probably have to wait until Monday or so. I've got a long weekend and my kids have talked me into making the video.

Now this is the content we are here for.. I'll have £20 on it keeps on running! I'm no expert but tubes are strong yeh??

I mean they're actually not hard to break, but that's why I've always mounted the tubes inside the pedal rather than having them stick out the top like a hot rod. When I was at NAMM in January I had a lot of people ask how fragile they were and how careful they needed to be with them, and in response I would just throw the pedal at the ground.

Ummm-that'd be highly appropriate for a pre inspired by a Traynor tube head . They actually DID that....crazy Canucks

Yup, that's basically what gave me the idea. I'll be leaving the tubes in though.

I told my kids today after school that we'll be doing it this weekend, and they're all excited.

I’ll be installing it on the board and exploring it over the next couple of days (if I can find time amongst a busy family weekend), very excited to compare it to my Noble too (on a different board).

Trying to decide about just getting the Underground Accelerator or chasing down a Dreamcatcher - I know the control stack on the UA is Bass/Treble boost and Mid cut. How does that dirty channel compare and what are the main differences in controls/tubes/etc? Just trying to get a grip on the other half of that pedal.

The red channel of DC is "its' own thing", a proprietary sushi circuit-higher gain than the blue/UA channel, but with the same Fender tone stack. Both channels are very friendly to tube rolling and both can be rendered lower gain/cleaner by substituting tubes with lower gain than 12ax7 (12at7, 12au7, etc). It (like the Detective with its' HiWatt tone stacks) just offers a way to have 2 different gain structures and eq settings to toggle between. Both channels (on both pedals) can be run clean through heavy OD depending on taste.

I'm shaping up to get a Finally sooner than later and getting a second pedal after I sell off some other gear.

I'd assume the Underground Accelerator would be the natural choice for such tests...

I'm sure any of them would be good candidates for the test, but I think more people need to hear how great Black Eye II is, so that's the one I chose.

A good demo, especially with bass, might generate more orders than dropping one out of a window, even though it might lag in terms of absolute entertainment value, especially for your kids

Unfortunately I'm a lot better at throwing things out windows than I am at actually playing bass

I could clarify that better, I spend a great deal more time playing bass than I do throwing things out windows, but I don't consider myself to be particularly gifted at either. So relative to the amount of time I've spent practicing each, I would expect myself to be considerably better at the bass, but I don't find that to be particularly the case.

I don't have anything meaningful to contribute to the conversation, but I just want to let everyone know that seeing pedalboards with Sushi Box pedals on them will never fail to make smile.

Update: just finished filming, with the assistance of my daughter. I continue to be incredibly awkward on camera, but all in all I think it went pretty well. I ended up spending a little bit more time playing than I originally planned, but this pedal is just so much fun to play.

The pedal is now sporting a relic finish (some areas moreso than others), but tubes are in tact and the pedal still works and sounds amazing. I'm not great at video editing, but I should be able to get it together and uploaded by Monday night.

...HPF and LPF, a nice DI that can add a bit of saturation with the gain control, 3-band EQ for tweaks...and a mute switch at the end of the board...

still waiting on the Eventually or Ultimately or Furthermore or whatever it is/will be called.... as long as it has a tube + HPF + DI. Until the the Finally is great.

Furthermore is still going to take more work, it has a lot going on, but I'm actively working on it.

A friendly note, Finally v2 comes stock with a 12AU7 now, but I always have a supply of 12AX7 on hand and can swap the tubes before shipping upon request at no additional charge, just drop a note at checkout. I've had a couple people request this already because they like the option of dialing in some nice tube grit.

Personally I feel the AU has more than enough grit for my taste.

What's the best preamp option for clean and clear oomph that comes with a DI? How much difference in tone is there between the Venus Z and the Neptunium?

UA arrived yesterday, about an hour before rehearsal. Enough time to get it on the board and test it to make sure I put everything back together correctly. But not enough to time to test it. Nothing like showing up at rehearsal with a new toy you have never even really turned on. Felt like an immediate upgrade to my ampless game: SV-Pre (clean) > UA (EQ off) > Messenger Jr.

I came home last night wondering if that combo might be enough to get me to reconsider keeping my YYZ on the board. But I have been fooling around this morning pumping the YYZ into the above combo and, at the moment, I think these are all going to play nice with each other. The YYZ brings a very different, more aggressive, sound and the UA really adds to it.

If your on the Broughton thread, you may have already seen this pic of the current state of my board with a few comments about My Carina experiments. But since these kinds of things make Mr. Sushi Box smile, who am I to deny one of life's a simple pleasures. Thanks for a great addition to my tone.
