The Sushi Box FX Secret Society

Gees - another two SB's hit the classifieds and went in a flash - so far the last two days have seen a ton of desirable pedals changing hands in very short time frames . What a time to be so broke ! and slow on the draw too but that really doesn't matter if the " play " money's not there to begin with . Of course I could always stiff the grand kids and say Santa forgot them this year but that seems way too Grinchy and unacceptable - although the thought did cross my mind ! LOL .... Here's to a Happy Christmas for you all and all yours - including of course , my grand kids who will be getting those Lego sets after all now that my humanity has been semi restored !!!! .... Kelly

Lego's were some of my favorite gifts as a kid. and boy did they pay off later! I saved all the boxes and instructions and when I was in High School, I sold them on ebay for probably $2000 or so and bought my first Rickenbacker with it. Some of the lego's ended up being pretty collectible.

Hey Lammchop93 - if you're trying to boost my spirits about springing for the Lego's for the grand kids rather than a pedal for me - it is very much appreciated ! LOL ... I ended up spending the afternoon playing with the pedals I do have rather than sitting on the classifieds - lusting after ones I don't . Far better use of my time for sure as I am the epitome of a mediocre player . I learned I like my Raven EQ more than my Demeter EQ - in tandem with my Linden . Plus I got a fair amount of practice in too . After all that is " I believe " one of the points of all this obsessing over reaching tonal goals - although I could well be wrong about that as some " pedalists " do seem to care more about possession than playing them . It's all good though as both players and collectors keep this cottage industry vibrant and that's something to celebrate in these very dark times . ... Kelly

I just sold my darkglass hyper luminal compressor I'd like to try a deep dish but I'm worried I wont be able to get one with the huge wait list atm any time I've gotten enough money the slots have sold out. I don't really want to wait around months on end for a new compressor but if its really good I may be swayed. Since I'm fairly close by do you think we could setup a day I could demo it? I cant help but lust after it seeing that proto type had me imagining it in violet sparkle or candy purple with black knobs

Also, I'm pretty darn close to Chicago (Kane county), so let me know if you want to try out the Deep Dish in person and we can figure something out. I'm trying to finish the December batch before Christmas, which may still happen though it will be close, then my day job gives me the whole week after Christmas off so I'll have a lot more free time than usual to start setting up for the next month's batch.

EDIT: just read your post more carefully and saw you already asked about demoing in person :P Yup, totally doable.

It's my opinion obviously. I'll add that I prefer the break up on the Slampegg and Fliptop over the SV-Pre as well. I'd have to put the Slampegg and Fliptop right next to each other in order to describe the exact differences. In general, the Slampegg and Fliptop break up is harmonically rich and less abrasive/more pleasant compared to the SV-Pre.

Lastly, I'm extremely excited to get my Slampegg X in the very near future. Don't take this as a criticism but I find the mini tube pedals have an inherent similar tube sound. For example, The PA and Slampegg had a similar tube flavor/sound although they have different tone stacks. It's like I could tell both had the same type tubes inside. I'm definitely not up on technical aspects of circuits but I'm just going off what I hear. I'm curious to see what a 12AX7 does to the circuit and how it compares to a mini tube. I'll definitely be sure to push my comparisons immediately as I know a lot of you are debating the regular and X versions.

I'll one up that :p After mine stuff gets sent, I'll have a Fliptop, both versions of the Slampegg in one housing, and a P-15. To the OP a few things up, the SV-Pre is a different animal altogether since it's emulating an SVT, not a B-15 (insert flavor here). It all depends on the sound you're going for.

The P-15 will definitely stay. If the Slampegg slams the Fliptop, I'll sell it on. No need to have all of this. I'm looking forward to my Slampegg because it will accomodate my Rob Allen with dual outputs.

As I've said elsewhere, I've found the power tube sim via the CabZone X adds much more realism to everything. The pedals alone IMO won't get you "there".

I have a Fliptop and SVP, and a Slampegg on order.

For me the Fliptop and SVP are different animals and the SVP has more range, but am still getting used to the FT and using it for an entirely different purpose. As of now the SVP is more useful but the FT is by definition more of what I want more often. Will see how it goes.

Looking forward to the Slampegg but I may change it to a Robot Butterfly or Deep Dish or Echosaurus or PA, they all seem like great pedals.

I feel like I've posted this recently...
