Damn you.

It's still a ways off, as I said the whole project is going to be ambitious, but I got a couple of the building blocks of it figured out so it's moving along. I'll hopefully have more news where I can reveal more details in a couple weeks.
 
I would preorder an analog cab sim/tube-based power amp sim yesterday.

i would like a tube power amp effects pedal so you could simulate pushing a tube power amp to the rails. no cab sim necessary for me (since i already have a two notes cab M).

Well then I'm going to disappoint everyone already and mention that it's digital IR.

I will say that tube power amp simulation isn't completely off the books, but it's not very straightforward and will take a lot of time and a lot of prototypes to get right, and even then it would only capture one or two scenarios (fixed bias vs cathode bias, different tube types, etc). Tube amps are such complicated things, it's easy enough to build a device that can do one or two of them really well, but it's difficult to simulate everything an amplifier does in the analog world. So while tube power amp simulation is possible, I will say tube speaker sim is a pipe dream, I don't think there's any way to do it well that is feasible. That's why IR remains the standard way of doing these things today.

Also I already have a CAB M+ and I've been impressed with it, but it doesn't have my name on it ;)

GMTA on the CAB M+. I've been using the CabZone X but it has some quirks I don't like. But its usability is high (three simple knobs).

I think most bass amps if you're modeling are PP, and for me if you got 6L6 (including maybe 7027A ...) and 6550 variants, KT88, and EL34 you'd cover most of the range for bass players. This is the one thing the CabZone X got right is the variants sans the 7027A which is in amps like the B-25B and the B-15S.
