GMTA on the CAB M+. I've been using the CabZone X but it has some quirks I don't like. But its usability is high (three simple knobs).

I think most bass amps if you're modeling are PP, and for me if you got 6L6 (including maybe 7027A ...) and 6550 variants, KT88, and EL34 you'd cover most of the range for bass players. This is the one thing the CabZone X got right is the variants sans the 7027A which is in amps like the B-25B and the B-15S.

How's this?

I should mention I'm not developing new architecture from scratch, I'm leaning on AMT for software and most of the digital stuff as I'm much more comfortable with analog.

Out of curiosity, what would those quirks in the CabZone be?

Four that come quickly to mind:

1. Its biggest problem is the lack of bypass outside of the Thru. That means even if both knobs are off, the volume knob affects the signal.
   
2. You can't individually change the volume of say, tube power vs. speaker. One volume to rule them all.
3. I find that in my office where I play, it's not very shielded so it picks up some noise. Some of that is my bass, but it's not the quietest design. In a live rehearsal setting I haven't noticed it.
4. I know you can load your own IRs but from what I can tell it's probably harder than just sticking with the presets.

None of those may be issues for you.

For under $200, it's a pretty good deal, sounds good, and is dead simple to use. I'm finding after a few months I need a bit more than it's giving me but it was a good intro to this part of the sonic world and didn't break the bank. Chances are mine may show up in the classifieds at some point.

Nice. For your SVT, I'd throw in the 6550. The Brit (Vox?) is eh for me but I don't think many in the bass world chase that unless you may be talking about Orange.

I know, asking too much too soon, but would there be EQ to tweak (i.e. the 6L6 in the B-15 really speaks to its mids) or is that your presence (saturation) setting? I would say saturation is a more natural word than presence but that's just me. Unless you mean it's something else.

I'm looking forward to trying the C.A.B. M+, but I can tell it's going to be probably more complicated than I'd like. If you can marry that simplicity of UI but powerful ...

EDIT: This is what I think CabZone got really right. It's made for both, but super easy for Bass and you wouldn't know it was for guitar once you load the bass stuff.

Yup, this is what I'm working with: AMT Pangaea CP-16 (module) – Media center of AMT Electronics

My biggest issue is that all the controls over the IR are only software accessible, which means you can't tweak it without a computer (though they're going to release the bluetooth module soon, that would mean mobile tweaking), but on the flipside you won't mess anything up accidentally unless the computer is plugged in, you just dial it in and save it, then you pull it up from the menu in the pedal (the only part that will be coded by me).

So when the used/refurb shop opens up on the site, do you want a warning beforehand or do you just want to be surprised?

I would preorder an analog cab sim/tube-based power amp sim yesterday.

Especially if it is like the swr intersteller overdrive. But slimmed down in pedal form there are literally zero things I've found on the market that do power amp saturation besides it and going with a lower watt tube amp like the Ampeg portaflex 20 or 50 watts or maybe something like a torpedo cab or Mooer Radar that has tube power amp simulation on board.

They are getting rare and spendy. It's a rack mount preamp too unfortunately. That's my only reason I don't own one atm I switched to a pedal board rig and run direct with in ears.

Yeah I don't see any listed right now, but a quick search turned up the schematic, which is as good if not better to me than an actual unit. I'll take a look and see what they're doing there. I'd be a little nervous about putting a pair of EL84 into a pedal-sized box, but in a big box I'll still admit it could happen.

Alright, that didn't take long After 5 minutes with the schematic I know exactly what they did and how they did it, and I could absolutely do it smaller/cheaper/better. I'll throw it on the list.

If you do you will be one of the only builders making anything like that at least as far as I can tell and that may be the one that finally dethrones my custom Verellen meatsmoke pre off my board. I'm honestly shocked I haven't seen anyone doing it with as many players trying to slim down their rigs and running iem's and direct but still want that tube power amp sound.
