Now there's a good question, I've never done an A/B on them like that. I would say the Vampire Slayer is more subtle, its focus is more on buffering than coloration, the mild coloration is just an added bonus. Space Heater does not have a buffer, just a couple gain stages, so coloration is the main goal of the pedal. Even with the gain down and running it at unity level your tone will sound warmer and fatter.

Matchless Hotbox. Particle Accelerator, Ambassador, and Black Eye were the first batch of tube pedals I ever made with the mini tubes. I love Matchless, and I liked the Ambassador, but I wanted to like it more. I think with the 12AX7 I will.

So the domain migration has been finished so the cert error we had with the website is gone now, which is excellent.
I'm thinking about opening up October ordering soon, but I should probably wait until I get a chance to solder up the fuzz prototype, I'd imagine people will want a chance to order those.

It's the dirt channel of the Matchless Hotbox. Probably not super exciting for bassists, but as a guitarist I love Matchless' stuff. The original Ambassador was so old it was never even mentioned on the website as I had stopped building it by the time the website started.
In my defense it's Friday and it's been an ultra long week at work and my brain is fried and my reading comprehension isn't comprehending and that also means that I tend to write run-on sentences and I'm kind of sad that the Ambassador doesn't give me GASI mean I just told you

I don't think I have yet. It's not really a secret, just another one more interesting for guitarists than bassists. It's a Dr. Z Z-Verb. My amp doesn't have reverb and I've been wanting a good tube-driven spring reverb for a while, and I saw a killer deal on this one which I had been looking at for a while. I still plan to sell it when I'm done with the trace, but it's always nice to not dump a bunch of money up front into the process.
FWIW I have one of the mini-tube Ambassadors (I think Nate said once there’s only like 3 of them out there…) and it’s very very nice! I don’t have any recordings of it unfortunately but it is a wonderful, smooth overdrive.

Yup, it's not like I gig or anything so they're generally just sitting around, and I could always rebuild whatever I sell later, but some cash would be nice to soften the blow when I break the news to my wife. She doesn't know yet...
It has a couple too many strings, the neck is too short, the strings are too thin, etc, but I fell in love. It's a Tennessee Electric Artisan, custom made in Nashville with a gorgeous walnut burl.
Will it have a real spring in it?
Caution, geezer story: Back in the '70s, I ran sound for a 4-piece acoustic band with a Shure Vocal Master PA, which had a real reverb spring in it. Some of the venues had very little space, and the PA had to be on or near the edge of the stage. One player in particular couldn't stop stomping his Frye boot while performing, so we often had to try (with little success) to reduce the BOING BOING noises he made through the PA.
