I received my Space Heater today, 1 day earlier than originally forecast.
Unfortunately, when I added it to this board, I am getting a high pitch squeal from my PAX, whether or not the SH is on. If I remove the SH from the signal chain, no noise. The noise gets worse if the SH is on along with the PAX, but quieter with only SH on, (Fliptop on/off makes no difference). Still a slight high pitch even when all off. Power supply does not indicate an overload or near overload. 9v 660mA to each SB pedal, tuner and compressor, 18v 330mA to the Fliptop. Not sure what to troubleshoot next.

Alright, since I can't troubleshoot it in person I have to ask a bunch of questions to see if we can figure things out:

1. Thank you for calling out the current supplied to each pedal. Can you also let me know what power supply you're using?
   
2. What happens if you leave everything in the chain but disconnect power to just the Space Heater? Any change?
3. What happens if you leave everything in the chain but disconnect power to just the Particle Accelerator? Any change?
4. What happens if you swap places in the chain, Space Heater at the end with Particle Accelerator in the middle? Any change?

We'll start with those, as they are the most common questions to point us in the right direction. If none of those solve it we'll have to get weird.

Funny I had the exact same issue with a Fliptop and a Sushi Lab Rat and PA. I no longer have the Fliptop The Slampegg does the same thing, only better..IF you don't use the Cab sim on the Fliptop. The Slampegg does not do that.

But I found by putting more pedals in between them it took care of the sqealing.

Funny I had the exact same issue with a Fliptop and a Sushi Lab Rat and PA. I no longer have the Fliptop The Slampegg does the same thing, only better..IF you don't use the Cab sim on the Fliptop. The Slampegg does not do that.

But I found by putting more pedals in between them it took care of the sqealing.

I have a slampegg on another board. The Fliptop is used mostly as a tone change/boost.

CIOKS 4 Isolated 4-output Guitar Pedal Power Supply with AC Adapter.

2.When power is disconnected from the SH the noise goes away, signal still passes.

3. Less noise, but still the high pitch, softer.

4. I have not done this, I will later when I go back to my cave.
However, I did try with a separate OneSpot power supply on both pedals, one at a time, the other still on the DC4. No change. I have been using this board with the SH slot open for about 2 months without issue.

I will also try the SH straight to an amp solo and see what is happening there.

I will also remove the fliptop and see if that makes a difference. Also, I will run the Fliptop at 9v. I will post again once completed.

I agree the cab sim on the fliptop is not useful to me. My Slampegg sounds WAY better. The fliptop cab sim sounds like throwing a blanket over my amp.

Some of my sushi boxes don't like my delay (Alexander history lesson 3). I found putting my tuner with buffer between them reduce the fighting.

I’d like to try the Finally as part of my Tube DI Shootout.

I will be doing a more complicated tube DI in the near future that will have more tone shaping options, but the goal of this one is to have a simple, compact, affordable tube DI.

I'm very interested in the upcoming complicated one, especially if it might have a James tone stack. Including an HPF would be icing on the cake.

It might just be all I need (along with a piezo boost - unless the pedal could also have a 10 Meg Ohm impedance input option) for my piezo fretless.

I'd love to have you try one and hear your thoughts. This is the prototype and the board had a couple issues, but I should be getting new boards in the next week or so. I'll let you know when they're ready and get one over to you.

I was thinking james stack for the more complicated one, and I do plan to look at switchable filter options as well. Also I talked to Mike at Lightning Boy yesterday, he's going to let me try out a 2020S transformer as a possibility for the input.

It will be fancy.

I spent some time with mine. I’m coming from a PAX, running a passive P and J bass into any on my amps; Fender Rumble 500c, GB SM 9.2, GB STL 900, Ashdown LB30, and Fender Super Bassman.

UA plays well with all my amps. The PAX didn’t play well with the OD of the rumble and was a bit noisier through my all tube amps.

I feel that UA is a step above in every aspect of my PAX. The gain knob does exactly what I want it to do, ranging from clean to full on OD. I like just a tad bit of hair when I dig in, like the old 70’s rock bass recordings. It handles dynamics well in this regard, and I can dial in a nice fat bottom with prominent mids and an ever present top end that is clear and smooth.

I still love my PAX but the UA really is the pinnacle of tube preamps IMO. Great price, quality build, killer sound, and looks freaking awesome.

You really hit the nail on the head with this pedal. I am going to be doing an out of state gig next week and can’t wait to flow the golden tones of this box out to the PA into the crowds ears.

Full disclosure; I’ve been at this for a long time and people reading this might think it is a “honeymoon” phase, but I buy, test and gig gear enough to know what is up and what will work for me. This killer little box is incredibly useful for us tube lovers.

Nice! I run a Rumble 500 combo and 2x10 extension cab with a P bass or Thunderbird. I can’t wait to run the UA through it. It totally fattens up the sound going direct, I know it’s going to sound great through an amp. This is my first ‘tube’ based pedal and I was a little skeptical at first, but am totally all in now. I will probably use the UA to fatten up synths and drum machines too. I should try it in guitar too.

Yeah I decided to try a sparkly clearcoat over the white finish, I like how it came out. The sparkles over the full color print on white made it look a little busy, but the simple artwork came out just right.
