The Sushi Box FX Secret Society

I received the notification that I can claim my UA from the post office now.
I'll leave work to other people and head over in about an hour.
Is anyone else still in the process of waiting for their October order or am I the very last?
One of the customers from Australia had to have his pedal re-routed to the UK because I can't ship to Australia right now, so he'll probably be the last one. But of the ones with no weird exceptions on my end you may well be the last.

My Slampegg is still on it's way. Last seen on getting to the plane from US to Finland :) so I guess is somewhere in customs limbo waiting to be scanned.

I am not surprised though as customs handling has been super slow here lately.

I feel you.
My USPS tracking told me it was held in customs and then did not get any updates until it arrived.

The CNC machine has been milling enclosures all night tonight, so while I waited for it I finished up @Nuage420's amp. It's a looker.

Cleaned the pots, swapped the VU meter lamp for a blue LED, and added some blue LED rails behind the vents for that eerie glow. Also added a dummy load that's connected when nothing is plugged into the speaker jack. I'll message you with info on getting it back to you, but thought everyone might enjoy seeing the results :)

I took the Underground Accelerator for a spin last night and had a blast.
It is a great pedal and a worthy successor to the Particle Accelerator - can't comment on the London Underground since I never played one.

One thing, though: People described the pedal as a more capable overdrive than the PA, which is supposed to have more clean headroom.
My PA, which is an old unit from before the 12AX7 tubes, reaches unity with the gain around 9 o'clock and the master around 10:30.
My UA reaches unity with both dials at noon.
With the UA's gain set to max, I get a pleasant sound that can be described as warm and fat, much like a tube amp that is just on the brink of distortion but not yet there. There is not much grind to speak of. The middle of the fretboard is quite clean, the upper registers get singing overtones and the lower notes (below A) get that farty texture when the bass knob is dimed (which it is). Is it supposed to be like that?
I play a passive Le Fay 6 string and in my default playing setup, the preamp is the first pedal in line.

Nice! Resistance dummy load, or inductive?

:hyper::bassist::hyper::bassist::hyper::drool:

@Sushi Box FX that far exceeds what I envisioned when we first communicated about giving the little bastard a sprucing up. You crushed it!

The newer UA's, of which yours is one, have an internal trimpot that sets the overall output level, and I usually ship with it around noon. It can be adjusted any way you want, there is no way it will damage anything.

As for the grit, I've found that it depends on the pickup. A hotter pickup will push it to more grit.

Just resistive. There's a little bit of empty space inside, but not enough for a good reactive load.

I was able to compare my PA to a PAX and UA and found I much preferred the PA and UA for my needs. I was looking for a vintage voiced preamp that would play well with my mostly passive basses for live and studio purposes, my preference being the Fender Showman / Alembic F2B circuit over Ampeg most seem to favor. I have been using a @johnk_10 FET-F2B on my main pedal F16 board for years, and it is likely to stay.
But had been struggling to find a tube alternative that sounded as fantastic and met my frugal standards. Enter @Sushi Box FX.
The PA is paired with a Southampton Ictineo on my recording board.
The UA is on my alternate live board until the SS returns.
The SS blue channel to me has a slightly bright openness that sounds a bit more modern to my ear that I am missing and the drive channel is the first one I've heard that gives the saturation of the BDPG but with more tonal control.

I have not tried to power it up yet...I have no idea whats going to happen  waiting for a power brick so I can hotwire it and start taking measurements.

Not fully sold on the pedal order/selections yet, but I may have a few to choose from...

I'm catching up!

The UA got here fast. First impression is that it's the nicest all-around pedal of the three, and has the tastiest overdrive, but the DR wins out on grit.

My Pedal Power 3 Plus lights up all three without issue. In the future, though, I will likely only have one of the UA or the SS on there at a time.

Agreed that the UA is a hit of a pedal with very nice tones from clean to some very tasty drives.
