Welll I had the mini tube version and didn't bond... the SlampeggX though ...
Smoke signal is awesome! I did not get a chance to a/b against my Meatsmoke, but seems to have nailed the sound.
I’ll add my vote for a smoke signal drive-channel-only pedal, in UA size box. No filter or level switch needed. Ideally with less gain so it has more range before distortion kicks in ( I’ll probably switch to a 12au7 in future).
Does anyone else get a slight pop when channel switching, even when not playing (louder if there is signal going through)? None of my other sushis have switching noise, same location on board, same power supply.

I don't think that is doable as the Red channel of the SS uses all 4 stages of both tubes for that richly saturated sound.
I guess the simple answer is that I need to go back to a bigger board!
Though fortunately not as big as my original meatsmoke board… I carried that monster in a keyboard case…
Yeah I attached the Meatsmoke to my big board.
Hauling the board/soft case around was like carrying a sack-of-potatoes.
Did some grinning watching band mates hoist it onto their shoulders the very first time. The look of surprise they gave me.

I've had a few people with popping going out of bypass, but none when switching channels. Is there anything that makes it better or worse? Louder when going from one to other (i.e. clean to dirty vs. dirty to clean)?
I’ll have to try again to confirm; iirc it was about the same going either direction, and louder if I had a note sustaining softer if the bass was muted.
Try it out and let me know what you find, I'll look back into the design. I thought I was pretty good about pull-down resistors anywhere that was likely to pop, but I'll freely admit I'm not perfect.
as i mentioned earlier in this thread: i have a loud pop when bypassing the SS, but sometimes also a slight pop when switching channels like @cavemanbass mentioned. i havent searched for a pattern, because it is nothing that bothers me in a live situation, as i have the SS in the loop of another preamp, to either blend a clean signal with the red channel or have a second sound option with the blue channel. i`m not switching anything during songs.
for recording i`m splitting the signal of the SS in addition to the loop, by running the rec out into a two notes torpedo cab m. so that i can record a dry signal + SS with cabsim at the same time. when increasing the level of the rec out with the level switch, I`ve noticed a volume drop @ the normal out and vice versa. is this intended? i also have some slight hiss on the normal out, none on the rec out.
sorry, if this sound like complaing. its honestly not meant that way! its all stuff i can easily live with, its just to make sure everything works as intended. i love this pedal so, so much, that i would cry if it ever failed on me

My latest mini-board iteration. Usually only use this for Jam sessions and/or when my main HX Stomp based board is under construction:
Polytune -> Smoke Signal -> SlampeggX -> (rehoused) Broughton HPF -> Workers Comp -> MBD2 -> Echosaurus -> Cab M+. Works for both my guitar and my bass, comp helps level out preamp changes, MBD for some always-on grit, and Reverb handled by the Cab M+!

Smoke signal + Slampegg is a winner for sure!
Can ya run the Smoke Signal into the SlampeggX without the squealing thing happening... I seem to recall issues with the PAx or the HWSH in that configuration without a buffer. I would kinda like to know more on that topic so I better understand optimal configuration...

The volume difference is unfortunately normal, that's something I'm going to look at when I get into the redesign (Smoke Signal v2? idk). There has been a lot of comments on the low output of the clean channel, which has led to the UA clean channel mod, which I've done a handful of times now. Hiss is generally related to power supply, what are you using to power it?
Let me know if you'd like to send it to me for the bypass pop fix and/or UA clean channel mod.
As I've mentioned, I will continue supporting everything I have ever made until I am physically unable to do so (pronounced "dead"), by which point I will hopefully have someone that knows enough to take over supporting them in my place.
I also noticed a level change in the normal output when engaging that switch. Channel switching noise would only be an issue if I’m switching in mid song. But I’ll be using a boost pedal once I sort out my pedal board size issue. The drive channel sounds so good that I want to just use that all the time.
I know it’s been covered but can someone tell me which tube to swap to reduce the amount of drive on the drive channel?
If you have it open and you're looking at the back, the tube on the right (you should be able to see "V2" in between the pins there) is the one that's exclusively for the dirty channel. The one on the left (V1) is shared between both channels.
My actual Verellen Meatsmoke head is the same... The OD channel is WAY louder than the clean channel.
And I understand where he was going with the way he had it set up, it makes sense on paper, but I think the UA clean channel mod is a winner.
thanks a lot. i`m not in a hurry with this and since i`m in europe i guess it makes more sense to combine this with a future order to make the shipping a bit more economic. i.e. i`m really looking forward to the greenhouse.
