The Sushi Box FX Secret Society

I just found out prices for LBA transformers have tripled, so I'm suspending orders for Finally until I can get things figured out. I will honor the Finally orders that have already been placed, but I won't accept any more Finally orders for the April batch.

FWIW The Finally equipped with the industry standard Jensen JT-DB-E is the bomb and sounds fantabulous!
Currently it is my and my clients favorite among my DI collection.

And that was my first thought, I have nothing against the Jensens, they're great sounding transformers. I love Lightning Boy's work and I like working with him and would like to support him, but I don't want to raise the price on Finally. I reached out to Mike, I'll keep everyone posted. I have enough LBA stock on hand to fill the Finally orders I already received, but I'll have to see how this plays out going forward.

Ouch... I nearly ordered a Finally with my HW Slampegg. Holding out for the HW Finally so I resisted temptation. Now I am wondering if I should have went ahead. I hope you are able to get something figured out even if it means increases on the Finally.

I “won” on the LBA price increase lottery with the 3 2020s units I purchased in February (mentioned earlier in the thread). They were $94 each then. They are now listed at $250.

Noting that I am not criticizing LBA for the increases. I expect their cost of inputs have gone up and since I do not have their books in front of me, I cannot judge one way or the other on the reasonableness of the increase (other than to say I am not surprised one happened).

I reached out to Mike at Lightning Boy and he explained what's going on, it's related to the increased price of materials, I just read a news article the other day about the price of nickel skyrocketing. He's going to figure out what he can do, and it looks like it can still work out with LBA transformers. I may have to raise Finally prices a little, but not ridiculously. Due to nickel being one of the more common materials in transformer shielding I imagine Jensen is raising prices as well, so I would just as soon stick with Lightning Boy.

I'm going to continue holding off on taking Finally orders for now until we've hammered things out, but I expect to be able to have them available again soon.

Nickel ain’t the only thing whose prices are skyrocketing. Gasoline seems to be aiming for the moon.

Yup, I'm thinking about taking my e-scooter to work when the weather warms up a bit more. That would be a project though, 12 mile range on the scooter with a 16 mile commute means time to modify the scooter.

This little gem goes 31 miles, AND can be used in inclimate weather.

A bug hit your windshield from flying down the road at a light-bending 7mph? No worry, it has a wiper AND windshield wiper fluid!

And all that at a low price of $9k :P My scooter can go a little more than twice that speed and I already feel like that's slow. I've been eying an electric motorcycle that can do 60mph, but I haven't been able to talk my wife into it. Maybe the surge in gas prices will finally sway her :D

Hmmm. I bet Nathan could double the speed by wiring in some Space Heaters. Whaddya think?

Me: I'm already overworked with all the projects I have on my plate right now.

Also me: if I take apart the controller of the scooter and monitor it with the oscilloscope I should be able to figure out what kind of PWM signal the motor is looking for, then I can design my own controller to go faster. Then I just need to design a new battery system that can hold enough charge to double the range while keeping up with the speed. I should also make sure the entire battery system can charge fast enough, so may as well take a swing at a new battery charge controller.

This one does 0-60 in 3 seconds.

That is gorgeous, but unfortunately way out of my price range. Now that I live in a place that actually has winter my ability to justify spending a lot on "warm-weather vehicles" has diminished. The one I was looking at was around $3k I think. You know, as much as a UV printer :P

22 mph in pedal assist mode. 80+ mile range in the cascade mountains when riding eco style (motor in eco mode going up, off going down). Handles like a high performance bike. It actually is a high performance bike. Shimano e-steps drive train adapted to a pro cross race bike. Full carbon. Design has the weight (battery in line with the rider and motor. BMC has a Tour De France and Grand Tour's heritage. Small and Swiss not as high profile over here in the land of Trek.

Put a rack on the back...
