My high school math teacher always said "the only dumb question is the one you already know the answer to" So Slampegg Bee Pre (Ampeg B15), London Underground (Orange AD200B), and Sunnday Drive (Sunn Model T) are based on straight up bass amps, so they were designed for bass. The Particle Accelerator (Alembic F-2B) was originally designed for guitar but has a nice low frequency response and works excellent for bass, that's why it has a demo on bass. Eventually I plan to get guitar demos recorded for everything as well, but I started with bass because at this point 90% of my customers are bassists The Dr. Wattson (Hiwatt Dr103) was designed for guitar, but there are a couple changes I do to it in order to make a "bass version" of the preamp, and that's something I could realistically do with any preamp.

That would be awesome! I will freely admit that I am not primarily a bassist (not a guitarist either, I'm actually a drummer!) and the world deserves to hear better demos than my sloppy playing.

I’ve heard MUCH worse demos on product pages! And the way you lay out your clips, with knob positions and a clean tone comparison (I assume using a looper?) is ideal IMO

Well thanks And definitely with a looper, no way I could have played that multiple times consistently

Also I wanted to let everyone know I talked to the supplier for my digital chips tonight and I'm getting an order of them in, so I can add Robot Butterfly (formerly Octopus) and Echosaurus back to the list of pedal offerings.

I wish I had a real Hiwatt to do a comparison with, but that’s a bit out of my budget. But I’m excited nonetheless. Always lusted for a hiwatt bass tone.

The consistency part is why it works! An effect can change the way you play too, so you lose any sort of objective comparison if you are just noodling and turning the pedal on and off at the same time. I think all demos should be made with loops!

That is correct. Oh and something I keep forgetting to tell people about the Sunnday Drive, it has dual-color LEDs so the tubes will light up blue when it's turned on and then turn red when you activate the boost. I'm pretty fancy

Can the boost be used without the drive to provide just a clean boost? And if so, does that mean theres a Purple LED mode (red+blue) when both circuits are activated?

Nope, unfortunately not. I treated the boost as an additional stage of gain for the main preamp, not as a separate clean boost. But now I'm trying to figure out if I could wire it to run independently without changing the design In the Lab Rat the boost is an independent clean boost that comes after the preamp, as I figured on guitar that would be useful for solos and such, but you can run that one without the drive on. Trying to remember why I didn't plan it that way for Sunnday Drive. Do bassists like clean boosts?

Yup, some of us do, especially as-close-to-transparent as possible. The TC Spark Mini, Bajo Mos, and Xotic EP are popular. Some use it to push another drive harder (like you have it wired), some use it to saturate a transformer (like a LB 2020), an others (me) use it to compensate for a passive DI box when needed.

That said, I doubt the market is THAT big to spend any reasonable amount of time reworking the gain circuit to be separate. I doubt anyone will buy the SD for its boost function alone, more curiousity on my part of how its wired/I-like-purple

Yes
