The Sushi Box FX Secret Society

So the good news is all the X Series is working and I'm planning to open the next batch of ordering tomorrow night to include them, the bad news is Deep Dish is refusing to let me fix it. I've asked for help from people smarter than me (there are a lot of them out there) and hopefully I'll have it soon, but for now I'm not ready to open it for ordering.

I wouldn't say the X series sound better or worse, but I'm one of those pesky tube rollers that will go through 20 tubes to find the one that sounds 1% better, so depending on the tube you have in it I will say it has the potential to sound different. But the additional cost isn't because it's "better," the cost is completely because they are more expensive and more work to build.

So, from your description, probably not different enough to warrant swapping out my London Underground I already have on order for an X-series.

They should be listed in the custom pedal builder which will be how ordering is done from now on, but I don't have pictures of them yet so they haven't been added to the colors page. If you want to change color choice before I've started your build just shoot me a message (contact page on the website is best, but any method works) with your order number and let me know what color you want.

No photos of the new pedals up yet so although they're not in the Colors page, you can choose them when shopping :) They're available on the mock-builder right now (since spots arn't opened yet):

you know, I'ma gonna ask one more question if I may.

London Underground, for example, says "620mA on a 9V input". Just realised that my OneSpot CC6 has a high of 500mA available for 9v. So that's a no-go then...?

So the OneSpot CS series is actually different, it would totally work. This is from the description on their website:

"A major benefit of using a switching power supply is that it can handle far more current (power being pulled out of it) than any transformer-based power supply. Although we had to put power rating labels on each output to satisfy certification agencies (yes, we actually certified these, unlike most companies), the outputs can generally handle far more than the label shows. For example, you can connect a 300mA pedal to a 200mA output, without causing any problems. "

Anyone taking bets on how long it’ll take to sell out the new slots?

In all seriousness though I’m very undecided if I should upgrade my Slampegg and PA orders for February to the X series. I was pretty sure I was gonna do it when I put the orders in - but no part of me has the patience or discerning ear to ‘tube roll’ so there’s a 99% chance I’m just gonna leave the tubes they’ll ship with inside the pedal forever. So the only real advantage for me is the reduced MA draw, and also I like the idea that if the tube ever does die it’s replaceable on the user-end rather than having to ship it back to Sushi to have mini tubes replaced.

Placedholder (maybe?) order for a Particle Accelerator in Fractured Cherry, gold knobs, purple LED. Looking forward to seeing what you come up with in the next few months, Sushi! :thumbsup:

Will most likely get in again for a June build if there's a cool Tube Zipper design. Just maybe don't open June orders until, you know... June? (or maybe after the holidays at least! :p ha ha)
