I have a Dr. Wattson and love the way it sounds, but also like to drive into it with a light gain pedal, the tube really brings out the character of the harmonics and get really good presence for standing out. A Plumes sounds great into it but also have a Fuzzrocious Lil Fella that sounds great too.

What drives do people like to stack with their SushiBox?

JPTR Jive and Origin Effects Halcyon are my favourites for giving some extra light gain, although the Lil Fella is up there too as a great one.

JPTR Jive is how they get all the juiciness into Starburst. I lerv what that thing does to tubes.
Also use an Accountant. It has a lovely breakup on its own, but into an on-the-edge UA...mmm, mmm, mmm

I built this one into the proof enclosure I got from the supplier I'm hoping to use for all SMD enclosures going forward, I like how it turned out.

Okay I'll be honest. It looks nice but if I didn't already know what the text said there's no way I could read what any of it says.

I’m not sure I agree with this, I can read it just fine, although maybe a little more bolding on the words would help a bit?

Good note, I don't have room to make the text a whole lot larger, but I could certainly bold it to make it pop a little better.

I haven't finalized any of the artwork files I'm going to be sending out, so I still have time to work on them. I'm hoping to get them all finalized by December so I can (fingers crossed) start using these enclosures in January.

I agree with @mmbongo it is harder to read than it needs to be. It is the mixing of the graphics and text for me. I usually order no graphics versions, so maybe it is just that subset that will not like the look on this one.

For me I think it’s the lack of contrast that makes it difficult to read. It’s not that I can’t read it, it’s that there are competing elements taking up the same visual plane.

Those Spark 4 knobs are pretty versatile, lots of different sounds out of those guys.

I like them so much I'm getting a 3rd to set to fat, so I'll have mid, clean, and fat available without having to bend over on stage. Interesting how the mid adds sheen, and the clean growls. They really, REALLY play nice with the SB's. With that combo, the Empress Para EQ is going, as has the Phat Phuk, Chorus, and Phaser. All Sushi all the time. I have a Slampegg on my home board, it resides there with a TU3, wireless and CryBaby. I am SOOOO spoiled!

I have an empty space "outline" around the labels to make them more readable in front of the graphics, I'll see if increasing the thickness of that so I have more space carved out for them helps. I can also play with colors and shading to see if I can make the contrast better. I continue to not be a graphic designer, so I rely on feedback to make things better

I took a good long critical look at it again. In retrospect it's not that I can't read the labels. I think my eye keeps getting drawn to the artwork in the center because they're the same color and close together with a stroke line of similar sizes. Sort of like how your eye will follow a line when you see it. If I focus on the knob labels I can see the text easily, but if I'm just quickly glancing it's like my visual focus just gets pulled into the center of the artwork. Some sort of Neurodivergent Kryptonite/Black Hole/ Vortex you've got going on there.

In a sense, I really see this as a good thing, since after a little while you don't pay attention to the labels anymore, because you know what each knob does; so the labels don't ruin the awesome visual since they blend in so well. Matter of preference I guess

GIG REPORT: played my first show with the sushi finally. i was running my usa dimension 5 >ovni comp>finally (sporting a five star 5751)>gk mbf800, di off the finally. I ran the finally gain and volume around noon and i was hot, clear and THUMPIN! the bass through the venue's pa was glorious and my stage toan has never been so full

10/10, cant wait to play this setup out again!

My graphic designer wife would say it lacks hierarchy. With any ux/ui design or advertising stuff, you want the most important elements to have the most emphasis therefore automatically drawing the eye to those elements. That emphasis or hierarchy can be achieved through color, color intensity, font sizes, font weight, etc.

When applied to the Lab Rat graphics (which I think are already very cool!) I'd say there is no hierarchy or subdivision between the labeling or info that is important to the user and the decorative graphics. I don't know if it's an option with the supplier you're working with, but I would start by making the decorative graphics a lighter shade of gray. It makes them blend in a bit more with the background and makes the labeling pop more because of the contrast between what's important to be readable and what's less important.

Caveat: designing stuff very good is always way harder than it looks is my experience. Therefore I take my hat off to you for taking on all this by yourself!

And while we're looking at numbers, because numbers are fun, this is the spread on finish options:

That's a perfect explanation in regards to why I had difficulty seeing the text.
