Well, since you wanna hear what the hosers have to say as regards to settings... would hate to disappoint! On my UA, it is as follows (with either a passive Jazz, Rickenbacker, or sometimes a Precision):
Gain- 1 o'clock (maybe 1:30)
Master- Noon
Treble- 11 o'clock
Mids- Full
Bass- 10 o'clock
I hate to change the subject because I've really been enjoying the discussion, but I'm too excited about this. The mass produced enclosures got delayed so I can't build as many of these as I want yet, but I built a handful with enclosures that were milled/coated/printed in house because I'm impatient.
As the name more or less implies, Unagi Magnetics is Sushi Box FX's new house-brand transformer. These were custom made to my spec, and will be used in all Finally v2. They may end up making appearances in other units in the future as well.
I haven't finished writing the datasheet for them yet, but this is the frequency response.
Always on, towards the end of the chain (almost last, right before HPF and cab sim), healthy lows (~3/4) and treble boost (~5) (bass boost in combination with the HPF is

Damn, this might be the flattest eel I've ever seen.
Unagi is truly my fave sushi on the plate.....not sure yet about on my board.....but intrigued.....just as I am by single slice.....that response curve looks like a winner winner sushi dinner. Will the transformers be for sale to other DI/pedal makers?
Unagi- better cost, similar performance to Lightning Boy transformers?
I've typically used mine as a preamp/toneshaper/eq, but it works quite well as an overdrive, especially if you bypass the eq. As for settings, my current favorite is bass at 1 o'clock, treble at 3, mids at 3, gain around 10/11 and volume at unity. Gives a nice little mid scoop, but its full and articulate
This is my tribute band board. All gigs are IEM and UA is used as a preamp.
All on except the tuner 100% of the time. I have a Broughton HPF tucked under there as well.
These settings are what I use with a P bass.
I always wondered if you switched between the SV-Pre and the UA; I guess now I know it's more or less driving the SV and giving some more tone shaping
Potentially, I'm on the fence about it. But I'm considering it.
There are a couple specs that are different than the Lightning Boy, but they will be likely subtle to the point of disappearing in a mix. I have a v1.1 (most recent prior to v2) Finally that I will be setting up for a formal A/B tonight, and I'll run both through a spectrum analyzer to compare frequency response since I don't have a graph for his.
I don't feel like I'm a control freak, but I feel like I've been doing this enough that I know there are certain parameters in a D.I. transformer that I wanted to my specification.

Out of curiosity, what band(s) are you paying tribute to? Just noticing the UA, SV, and Finally all appear to have liberal helpings of gain dialled in. I assume you are getting a pretty gnarly sound... can only imagine how much the guitarists are intimidated by it!
