Okay, guys. I need some help here. I have just enough room on the board I’m putting together for one two-channel Sushi Box pedal. I’m caught between a Dreamcatcher or The Detective. Thoughts?

Are we all really ignoring the Venus Y? We know the Venus X, Venus Z has been hinted. But what about the Venus Y?
Also does this mean the next next model is going to be Venus AA or Venus A1?
I have and love both. I have decided to sell my Detective (in the classifieds) because it's BNIB and therefore worth more, and I don't have enough room for such big sushi on the board I had intended it for. Both do a great job of offering 2 different flavours with separate eq and gain structures. In choosing between the 2 the main difference IME is the differing eq curves since the DC uses a Fender passive stack and the Detective the HiWatt type stack, so I'd look at this simulator before deciding. They both work equally well for my ears/taste.

LOL. You can't break the simulator, but it can depict exactly how the 2 classic, passive eqs differ and what each provides. I learned a lot from it....knowledge that saved me from wasting a lot of time blindly twisting knobs
It would certainly lose the size appeal of the current More, which I believe is one of its charms. A pair of 6SL7 would make for a very large pedal.

I finally figured out how to use the simulator!
I never realized that there are “faders” off to the left of the graph to act as cut and boost so I always just used to look at the waves and think “umm, okay…” Look, I never claimed to be a very smart guy…
Adding a HPF to the current More is a great idea though. It's so good on upright to begin with, a hpf would make it a fantastic upright pre
I've made the point more than once that the circuit does implicitly act as a little bit of an HPF; it's a double-edged sword. If it weren't for that, it would be always-always-on, but sometimes I miss the thump and so it's a half-time-always-on for me. Occasionally if the room is really boomy it does help, but there's always actual HPF and notch filters for that of course. That being said, the MORE is brilliant for the FX loop of a solid state amp + elec bass.
Yes !!! I like it, build pedals with 6SL7 tubes in them, then we will still need roadies to help carry all the gear in even if we just have a pedalboard with a DI to front of house.
You say 1U rackmount sushi device as though it’s a bad idea…
Anything with 6SL7 would have to be 2U minimum, they're too big for 1U.
I had a couple weird ideas with 6SL7, we'll see where they lead. They aren't going to bump anything else off the R&D list, but I've got ideas.
Grand Slampegg is still going to happen, that's on the list well above whatever weird 6SL7 experiments I come up with.Ahem... Grand Slampegg!
But I also had some thoughts to combine a couple of my ideas to change the scope of Grand Slampegg a little and kill a handful of metaphorical birds with one metaphorical stone.
