The TalkBass String Comparison Sound Clip Thread!

Hells Bells Rob, what's happened to you, since you started this string thing, you're appearance
has changed, I don't recognize you any more. Stop taking them there pills.
And what's with all this 'mate' business, I feel as though I'm back home again, mate ?
Regards, Rejected from Brighton, BassicBrad.
How so? I've always said mate, I'm from Yorkshire lol

@BrentSimons Did you hear from MJC ironworks?
No not a word. :( I knew it was a long shot but I would have thought they would have said something? "Thank you for buying our strings?" I've sent a few emails to Rotosound in the past and they have responded within a day or two at most.
Bummer.:( Oh well, I still like the strings. But now I'm tainted! ;)
How are things across the pond mate? We are having a spot of English weather today by gawd! :)
Cheers,
Brent

I'm going to try the Auroras out again. Perhaps I was too hasty or I've been inspired by all of the beautiful fall colors here in Vermont but I have set of red 45-105's on the way. I think I'm going to try them on my Cirrus this time. Hopefully I can get someone to buy some of my "slightly worn" sets in the classifieds! ;)
Best wishes to all,
Brent

So I've installed the Johnny Brook bass strings, and there's afew faults.. The ball ends are absolutely tiny, and the wire from the ball end on the G string is sticking out!

I've recorded the first part of my comparison, and they are on thin side, not very bass at all. So here it is. So no one has to buy them haha

Hey Rob, glad to see your looking better.
Yes those strings need something, you should contact Johnny Brook & give them a proper a
description of how they compare to other brands. If you don't tell them, how are they gonna
know to make better strings. I'm being serious.

Can't find an email address, they probably don't want the hassle haha

Here we are, Johnny Brook vs Ziko nickel wound. And just like IconBassers experience, these are great! Tons of low end, they came all tied together but didn't have any kinks in them. They feel nice to play. And easily win this one. It's apparently extra light special with gauges 45-100.

Also added commentary at the end lol

heh, thanks for the shoutout! bit of an aside: being a lifelong Yank, it's always fun to hear real British accents other than David Attenborough's. Makes one wonder what my Californian accent sounds like to other people around the world
