The Trace Elliot V-type Club!!

I am seriously considering selling my V6 It is in good condition with reasonably fresh Tung Sol 6550 power tubes and the original T.E. preamp tubes.

This is a wonderful sounding amp, but what is it worth these days?

Recently picked up a V-Type 5001 hybrid amp to go along with my GP12 SMX 2x10 combo and my GP7 BLX130 SM combo. After playing with it and doing a quick A/B recording test against some of my bands recorded material, it has really given me an appreciation of the rather large difference in sound between the V-Type and my other Trace gear. V-Type is very "old school" compared to the more "Hi-Fi" sounds of my SMX and SM Pre's.
I'm currently running the 5001 through one of my spare Trace 2x10 cabs. Experimenting with ports open, and closed. (Yeah, I have those "bungs"lying around) I'd prefer a second 2x10 cab to drop it to a 4ohm load. Though right now I'm seriously considering picking up an SWR Henry 8x8 to run it through. Curious if anyone has an opinion on that subject.
Sorry for not posting pics. The previous owner replaced some of the stock knobs with some awful GK ones. Other than that, it seems solid.

I have a v type preamp paired with a Demeter all tube power amp ; it's the warmest sounding amp I have ever heard ! All tube ...
I have another identical v type preamp that I will pair with a vintage trace Elliot vr-400 all tube power amp that I just bought ; that will happen next week ; I will share some pictures of that one soon; in the meantime here is the Demeter trace Elliot amp

Zombie thread for a zombie head!
I just picked up a v-type 5001 I believe!
It's front green light is burnt out and won't budge at all when trying to remove it from the front.. I'm kinda baffled on how to take this thing apart..
I want to view the tubes and clean it up on the inside, but still how do I get into this little tank!!
Everything works As far as I know, the light is the only thing that's wrong!
So does the amp open from the rear or in the front after I remove all the knobs??

Actually there are screw cover on the top of the wood box. The screw are underneath the covers and then it just slides out front or back

Pilot light bulb screws out anti-clockwise from the front. I used thin long nosed pliers on mine and once I got it out I realised that the issue was not with the bulb but with the connection underneath it which is a simple bent over metal piece. I pulled it out a bit to give more pressure and it has been fine ever since. New bulbs and green bezels can be obtained from:

Thanks friend! I actually ended up using duct tape to get a grip on the light bulb and now I know where to order a new one so thanks.
I just posted the head in the classifieds.. then I used it as a band setting and damn this thing purrrs!
I wish I had an overdrive pedal cause this thing sounds phenomenal and my main head (SWR Mo'Bass) has a built in overdrive..
I don't want to sell it, but I don't want to start down the path of buying a million pedals...
It's on the chopping block for now, but I might not sell it anymore, I might be falling in love. Maybe when the green light up front is lit up I will be pedal buying haha.
