It is jaring to have an 18-20 lbs. (depending on the time of the year
) jump on your shoulders or back.
I used to work with someone who had several cats. When she went on vacation, I would go to her house at lunchtime to do cat patrol (food, water, boxes). One of the kitties, it turned out, liked to launch himself from the bed to land on my shoulders and get me in a headlock. This was cute (sort of) when he was a younger fellow, but by the time he grew up and was a very large cat, I was concerned about ending up face down in the cat litter.
