I used to work with someone who had several cats. When she went on vacation, I would go to her house at lunchtime to do cat patrol (food, water, boxes). One of the kitties, it turned out, liked to launch himself from the bed to land on my shoulders and get me in a headlock. This was cute (sort of) when he was a younger fellow, but by the time he grew up and was a very large cat, I was concerned about ending up face down in the cat litter. I imagined the article in the paper: "Local attorney found dead in home. Police seek suspect with black and white hair."

I got engaged then moved away on a job transfer for the 8 months before my wedding, without my bride to be. Meantime, I acquired a kitten and taught her to jump down onto my shoulders from all the high places, and up from the arms of the couch and chairs. My new bride was caught very off guard the first time they spent time alone. Apparently didn’t love the experience. I de-trained her by setting up for a leap up from the arm of the couch, watch for the bum wiggle, and step aside at the last second as she launched. It worked.
