I'm really temped by swapping the EL344 for the KT88, but the amp runs flawlessly for the moment. So it might not be worth it.
I was thinking about reliability more than tone.IMHO, use up the EL34s. When they get weak or start having problems, try KT88. I doubt you will notice much if any difference.
You can install KT88s whenever you want. However, AFAIK new tubes have an elevated rate of failure.I was thinking about reliability more than tone.
