I've got a bad feeling about what's gonna happen when he gets down there. I hope the cops that will inevitably show up are there to help him and not taser him. Especially if UPS goes with the whole "Not our fault" defence.

The UPS Store has "lost" my bass!

Security cameras, lawsuit, if it crossed the counter, are all good arguments. Just stay cool and you should be able to get it resolved. I can't imagine how these places can't have security cameras. It's like a bank not having cameras on their tellers. Hell, they even do at grocery stores. It should be a law.

That's exactly right. Each UPS Store is independently owned and operated. Once the bass makes it's way onto a UPS truck, then it's UPS' responsibility. Until then, it's the responsibility of the business owner.
get a lawyers word and then go down and tell them you are willing to file a lawsuit. Does the store have video cameras? if so they should have a video of you leaving it at the desk.
Exactly what I was going to say. Check any pawn/ebay shops in your town or surrounding areas too.

that bass is rare, easily identifiable, and you have the serial # info. Get out to the pawn, and scour CL. You'll get it back. Do a sting and get law enforcement involved.
