Continuation from The Valenti Megathread

It seems as though we finally got enough posts to exceed the limit, so we need another post to show off Nino's work.

Here's #66, which I got as a Master's graduation present from my parents while I wait for my custom order to be filled:

Nordstrand pickups, OBP-3 preamp, Pau Ferro on Maple, and freakin' LIGHTWEIGHT body.

Another reverse-P/J on white/tort...just that mine has a jazz body instead of the P-bass body of the one in the last thread!

wow, Chef, you've got a remarkable couple of basses right there. I guess this is why you're selling that warmoth build. these seem like a great alternative to not being able to grab a Nordy.

Chef, are those Big Singles or Fat Stacks on the basses? How well can you describe the difference between those and the typical Nordstrand Js like mine has? I know, I ask the hard questions. Thanks.

Singles on the black, stacks on the silver, cause the P is a humbucker dontcha know...
Course, I bought both these used, so it's not like I designed them...

While the singles are "kinda J like," the stacks really aren't, at all. They're darker, as most 'bucker's are, because, well, they are "dual coils," even tho it's side by side.

The singles sound more modern to my ear, which is really what you would expect from a big single coil soapbar kinda deal.

The Nord Big *Insert Model Here* are neat pickups. The singles are closest to a true J tone, but, they do not do "true J tone." At least not to my ear.

Keep in mind: the Geddy Vee has an Audere, and the Silver P/J has an opb3: pretty big diff's on theri own right there.

The Fat Stacked are 2 coils, one on top of the other. Big Splits are split side by side.

How does the Valenti sound through your GB setup? (BTW, are those 2x10's or 12's?) Is it a good match?

Hey Nino, just a curiosity question for you. What kind of pickups do you prefer in your personal basses? I saw that some of your basses have Nordies and EMG's. And another question, is it possible to get Bartolinis put in your basses? If I get another Valenti after I get my first one I was thinking of some of those. Just wondering, thanks.

Hey Nino, just a curiosity question for you. What kind of pickups do you prefer in your personal basses? I saw that some of your basses have Nordies and EMG's.

It depends what mood I'm in. #057 had EMG40J's. #060 has Nordstrand NJ5 single coils. I have a 5 string P5 (no serial #) with Nord P5. My Sadowsky V4 has EMG J4's, My Sadowsky V5 has Sadowsky HCJ5's. My favorite is at the moment #057 with the EMG 40J's/Aguilar OBP-1. Bright, angry, aggressive, loud nastyness!!!!!

And another question, is it possible to get Bartolinis put in your basses? If I get another Valenti after I get my first one I was thinking of some of those. Just wondering, thanks.

The few times tired to contact Bartolini, I never got a call back.
