Tell me more about this bass starting at 3:47 in this video - is it a 35 in scale, woods, electronics, standard (19mm) spacing, etc...? It sounds AMAZING!



Not surprisingly, my favorite tones in this video came from Valenti's.

And is the blue vintage at 4:23 Peter's?

You've got a REALLY nice one there - congrats!

I've recorded some SOUNDCLIPS of one of my recent builds. I've tried to use different preamp settings and different pickup settings. This bass is owned by Joe Fazio, bassist for Hope Kills Fear.

The bass plays and feels great. From a set up and playability standpoint it really compares well to my two Alleva-Coppolo basses. It sounds very different and good in it's own way in comparison as well.

When a bass has it going on it is easy for me to fall for the looks. With that being said the neck feels really nice with the aged finish and being that the body is already broken in I don't really need to worry about keeping it all new and shiny.

Okay, so here's a new topic of discussion. How many Talkbass cats own a Valenti fretless? I know Nicky had one made and it ended up selling at a GC not too long ago.

I've been looking longingly at this one for the last few days:

This one just does it for me in all kinds of ways. The natural alder with the pau ferro is smooth.

So, is Tom Furlough a TB'er? Anyone else here have a fretless Valenti? Any soundclips?

No fretless Valenti love? Okay, I've got another question:

Nino, have you made any four string basses with the same general recipe as #100? I've got a friend who inquired about it.

- Alder body
- maple neck/board
- 70's positioned jazz pickups

I've had several of Nino's basses, and they're great.

I did the same with my RA-5 in favor of #100. It's been nothing but ever since!

Boy...if I had to choose between my Valenti and my LG, that'd be tough.
They're both kinda alder/rw JJ's, but they're pretty different.
The Valenti is pao ferro, which, like morado, I find feels brighter than a true rw, which the Alleva is.

Also, the Valenti has Sadowsky SC's and preamp, which places it "even more modern sounding," and the AC is just pretty organic and passive-ish sounding.

Love 'em both.

I've never had so much passive J variability in sound as #067 fitted with AERO alnico5 pups. Emphasizing the bridge gets so close to an MM its frightening. I think its the light body, pau ferro board and extended range pickup.

Toying with fitting a premap for 2 reasons., 1. ) to cop a Pbass sound , and 2. ) to get a more modern sound.

Any recommendations other than Chef's above? Its sounds like a Sad pre might be the ticket, while I had been thinking Audiere. ( for no real reason other I had an Aguilar in #008 and its not what I;m looking for).

From me experience, the Sadowsky will be more modern (which would be a little closer to the Aggie). The Audere or Nordy will be less modern sounding.

But all flavors of good.
