It's my "noobidity" Nino. I wondered if the blend was identical to running the neck pup solo'd, as I've seen J basses with that switch. I assumed it was something to do with cutting the other pup out of the circuit completely. I wont assume.
Even being a noob, I am a very sensitive guy ( can't you tell by the scars on my face!), and I could clearly hear a certain "muddiness" on the lower notes esp the B when run thru the preamp. That was Valenti #008, and I have since discovered that it exists in all active basses I've tried since then. Given that AERO pickup seems to give a bigger, rounder low Hz note anyhow, I reckon that effect will be magnified. Which is why I'm stuck on a true bypass. When you find a custom winding that handles the low B better than anything you've heard, you dont want to monkey with it.
Yet, it would seem a series/ parallel switch, and a good preamp with true bypass would give #067 a super wide pallette.
Does anyone like Pope make one with a non- low current draw chip to make it sound better? I dont care if batteries last a few hours; I recharge. It seems to me I'm hearing the natural limits of the low current circuits below 50-100Hz. And I will simply "suck it up" for the broader pallette if need be, as it very well may be my imagination playing tricks on me. But I dont think so.
I need a VTC though, that's clear. Nino, do you source the Sad pre direct, or should I fish one up?
