I find it’s easier to intonate with a B bridge.

I concur. I also like how the B bridge has less of an "physical area footprint" on the face of the body... which I find more appealing on a Fender-style bass vs. the A bridge, the Kickass, the Badass, etc.

And even in brass, the B bridge isn't exactly a boat anchor.

Bass arrived yesterday! Unfortunately I had plans last night with family and friends so I didn't get to spend much time with her. Will remedy that this evening!

Wow! Spent some quality time with the new girl last night and was BLOWN AWAY!!! The bass is simply incredible! Fast neck! Fit, form and finish are all top notch.

This bass has a darker timbre compared to my other basses but that "60's Jazz" sound was what I was going for; a little less aggressive, a little more mellow & warm.

I couldn't be happier!! Thanks again, Nino!!

Nice! 6 bolts provide a larger and more rigid point of attachment (and IME, a more solid B-string). Love that surf green...

Love Nino's basses. Wish he would attempt a 5 string hollow body with MOP inlays on the neck. Basically this in a 34 or preferably 35 inch scale 5'er Mmmmm, MOP inlays

Nice! 6 bolts provide a larger and more rigid point of attachment (and IME, a more solid B-string). Love that sea foam green...

I have 4 Valenti 5 string basses and none of them lack in the B string area. And Nino’s work is outstanding.

GREAT day in the studio today!!! Finished up with the bass tracking and used the new Valenti Basses T21-J5 on what is probably the most difficult song I’ve ever recorded and couldn’t have been happier with the tone I got from her. The tighter 18mm string spacing made the string jumps much easier.

So my Valenti arrived Friday and I was fortunate to be able to spend some time this weekend playing. My first impression was that the big blade/Nordstrand 3b combo was very modern sounding and alot hotter and more output than the big single/2b combo that I have in my Nordstrand J bass. I found that treble at about 20% and just a little bump for the mids and bass produced a very pleasing tone.

As far as the build quality itself, everything was first rate. My last Valenti build was 2011 and this one is much better. I like the new sleek body style, the contoured heel is a nice touch and the neck is super comfortable.......I'm sure Nino has changed quite a few things since 2011. I was going back and forth between the Valenti and a $6000 MTD and the Valenti stands up honestly. I don't think it is any secret to anyone on this thread that Nino Valenti makes one hell of a bass.........I was also pleasantly surprised at the Valenti stainless strings that came on the bass........very similar in feel to the MTD strings I am used to. Thanks again Nino, you did a great job on my bass!!

Nino definitely builds a stellar instrument! Here is 266 getting it done. I haven’t played a P bass in 30 years. If I had this bass then, maybe I wouldn’t have stopped.

Greetings All!

I've been lurking around this thread for years, and the time has come for me to add a 5 sting Jazz to the collection. I contacted Nino yesterday and he's already ok'd most of the specs. However, since I will be going in without having actually played a Valenti before, I'd like some input from this group!

Basically, I'm looking for a jazz bass that will perform/shine and be versatile across all styles of music. My main gig is an originals band that draws inspiration from bands like Little Feat-Grateful Dead-Phish-WSP etc, but I also play/ sub in a few funk bands, 70's cover bands, jazz ensembles and salsa and steel pan groups etc. I'm counting on this bass to become my workhorse for the foreseeable future and it will be used in all these settings.

I'm leaning towards these specs, so any thoughts/ideas you may have would be greatly appreciated! I also want this bass to have a familiar feel to it, so a couple specs will match my US Spector BO's, hence the Spector mentions in the specs.
