The Valenti Megathread Part IV

My T21-J5 is getting a lot of love! From live shows to the studio, this bass is taking care of business!

My next bass will be a PJ5. My new Hard Rock/Metal band is writing originals and we'll also be playing some covers. IMO a P-style 5-string is almost a prerequisite for the styles I'll be playing and the tone I'll need. I'm thinking I'll be calling Anthony and put down a deposit.

My rough specs are:
Alder body
35" scale maple neck/maple fingerboard.
Chrome Hipshot A-style bridge
Chrome Hipshot Ultralite tuners
Dunlop Straplocks
Aguilar OBP-3 preamp with bypass switch
Duncan pickups
And, last but not least: Black finish, I'm playing Metal. :D.
Gold anodized pickguard.

I've admired Anthony's work for many years, it's time I buy one of his creations.:bassist:
Looks like fantastic specs.

On the PJ5 I'm going to have built, I'd go totally passive if only Dimarzio made a 5-string Model P and a 5-string Model J. At least Dimarzio's website only shows 4-string versions.
Check out Aguilar. I've been very impressed with the Jazz pups I have on the one above.

Very similar to my build (#151) although I went with Nordstrand PJ’s and a Sadowsky pre. I later had Nino convert it to a JJ with Aguilar 70’s single coils. The combination of Those pickups with the Sadowsky pre is outstanding!

What I'm hoping to get from my J-pickup is a slightly fatter tone and maybe a bit more output compared to a single coil J-pickup. I'm pretty sure I'll need to go with a stacked coil, which I'm fine with.
I've heard some clips of these [ Invalid Link Removed ] & I'm very interested in them - the Mayones Jabba
Hadrien Feraud model has a pair of them + they make a P pup with the 9.5mm poles as well.

Here's Hadrien jamming with it:
