The Valenti Megathread

My Valenti arrived today and I open the box, pulled out the case and said a prayer hoping it would be what I had hoped it would be beforing unzipping the case. I am so happy to say that this bass is everting I hoped it would be. The finish is just beautiful, the feel of the neck makes you want to play and the combo of the Big Singles and the OB3 make this puppy bark. The detail taken with this instrument is just fantastic. Nino, my brother my hats off to you, you do great work and well worth the wait. I'm not into Luthier worship or false praise, if I had a beef I'd let you know, Totally Satisfied Will.

Wow. Well, I know you really wanted it to be what you wanted, and really wanted what you wanted to be what you got, so I'm really glad that what you got is what you wanted and what you wanted what you hoped.

Seriously, I'm sooo close to putting down my order!

5 string Jazz with Nordstrand singles
Sunburst, no pickguard, no chrome control plate (like a Sad standard)
obp1 with vtc
Brazilian board quartersawn neck
1 3/4 nut width with 18 mm string spacing

I just last week began email discussions with Nino for a bass to be built- I'm going for an old-school passive single-coil P bass, but a 5 string! Apparently Nordstrand makes a hum-canceling "single coil P" 5'er pup. The other thing is I'm challenging him to build it in a way that will cop the old heavy Ash body tone, with beefy low mids, but using extra-light body wood. He thinks he can do it, and maybe get the total weight down around 8 lbs!

Actually when he get's there and tries out the bass, he'll throw his hat down on the ground upside down while he's playing, so it'll be 'busk' in his presence.

Man. I didn't realize how much of a stretch that would look like outside of my head.
