Nino, do you route your own pickups or does warmoth have a route option that fits all the nordstrand pups? Also do you know anything about stock Wal pickups? If so, are there aftermarket pickups that are close to them?

Last, could you wire a bass like a wal. There is a wierd feature you can see here on youtube:

The guys says:

"No it is a feature on the Wal bass. There is a low pass filter which can serve as kind of a "midrange sweep" which is how I am making the Wah sound with turning the knob. This is how Justin plays that. There is no wah in the song. =) "

If you haven't noticed, I'm a TOOL nut and want to know if you can build a bass that sounds like a WAL :)
I don't think I would be able to come close to a Wal like sound.

You like Justin, I like Geddy... It's all good. ;)

What's the turnaround time like on these orders? How long is the wait from the time you put in an order and make a down payment?
My current turn around time is 4-5 months. Some of the order I have were placed while USACG was moving to a larger location. The necks have been delayed which is why on "Upcoming Basses" page all you see are bodies. Some of my customers have been patiently waiting for 7 months. :(

Any pricing question, please email me.

I'm reviving this thread and joining the club. I just bought this off another TBer this week:

Sweet, Guy!! Bet it sounds better than it looks too.

It plays great (now that is has a proper setup), but someone in it's previous ownership replaced the Aguilar OBP-1 with an Audere. I've finally got those STUPID little trim pots adjusted, and I'm trying to decide if I like it or not. If I decide to switch back to the Aguilar, I will have to buy a whole new faceplate/preamp assembly, since holes were drilled for the switch and led.

The audere just comes that way. The full plate is assemebled.

Looks great BTW!

This megathread is a great idea.I'm in group 2. After seeing and hearing these fine basses on TB I had to take the plunge! I've just got the ball rolling on this one.

The specs are:

Maple Neck with Birdseye fingerboard
Black dots,
1-1/2"@nut
34 " Scale
HipShot B Style bridge
HipShot ultralite tuners

Aguilar OP3 Preamp
"close to" Poon layout: (smaller control cavity)

Volume w/push pull for preamp bypass

Treble/bass on Stacked pot.
2 mini switches for SC>DC operation

I'm the original owner, you're now the third. It was an OBP-2 in there, not an OBP-1. The Audere sounded much better to my ears, more granular control of the bass boost. Plus it's the quietest onboard preamp I've ever heard.
You don't really need to adjust the trim pots unless you're using the different modes, I typically used the mid-z more which the trimmers don't affect.
Anyway, enjoy!

It's good to know who put that in. I'm not sure that I'll use the switch either, put putting it into low Z mode was like stomping on a volume pedal. I figured that I would get is setup properly, anyway. Quietest? I might disagree with that. My Fenders are slightly quieter through my rig.

I need to let the strings settle in before I come to a conclusion. I might be biased against it already because I am not a fan of hidden trim pots, especially ones that require the worlds smallest screwdriver!!!!! ;)
