you know i forgot they were doing the flashback thing in the series from before z-day ...
i get to start the 2nd series over tonight... wife said it's the "activity" after the kids are in bed... she doesn't know I'm already waaaay ahead of her. best keep it that way going off her reaction a few day's ago when I mentioned i already watched part of it

This thread had a lot of activity that I didn't realize haha.. I missed out on a lot of conversation.
I've been avoiding spoilers from a couple of my friends who have read the graphic novels. They'll occasionally say they want to mention "one little thing" and I end up having to restrain them from saying anything.
Re: Dale, I think he is always very adept at noticing internal issues with characters. He seems to always know when someone is concerned with something they're not saying, lying, things like that... Shane seems like to like making trouble for himself, which is all piling up this season.
I also agree with all the statements about the calm before the storm element. Things have gained a bit of normalcy (aside from the two kids' problems). The trailers seem to indicate that there will be a rude awakening coming.

Plenty of people on the farm who could die. I don't necessarily think it will be anyone from the main group. They're obviously not going to be staying at this farm all season, so some of those folks dying is an easy way to get them traveling again.
I do find it funny that their RV is now in good condition and they have plenty of car parts/food/supplies from the highway to keep them going for a while, yet they've remained in one place the whole season.
I'm assuming the barn is the key to the s hitting the fan. Since the old guy said don't go near it. Obviously when someone makes a point to not tell you to go near something something weird is gonna go down.
I also really hope Sophia is a zombie and comes back and kills Jamie lee curtis. She has seriously been annoying the hell out of me all season. And as for Sophia if she's stupid enough to not follow simple directions then she deserves to die. Though I guess it's possible Merle grabbed her or something.
I also wonder if maybe the s storm will be the high school zombies tracking Shane back.
I highly look forward to when Shane will go off the deep end (which I'm guessing will be the cliffhanger). I'm assuming him and Rick will be having a showdown this season, I feel like the Otis news will come out.

now that you mention it.. that IS a little weird. i took it as "everyone stay close, just in case. especially you with the guns."
and did they ever tell herschel of the zombie in the water?
I wonder if the farm family can't bring themelves to kill their undead relatives, and are keeping them chained in the barn? The "no guns on my property" rule seems really unusual.

His death scene was very reminiscent of Captain Rhodes demise in Day of the Dead in terms of gore - minus the immortal "choke on 'em" line - but much more disturbing. The look in his eyes as he sees Shane leaving him to be chomped....urgh!

After watching Survival of the Dead which has the same plot as that, I'd be disappointed if that was the case. That movie was certainly not the usual fare of George A. Romero flicks.
I took Hershel's no guns thing to be a preventative measure. By not drawing attention to themselves, it will limit any occurrence of zombies and thus defeat the need for any gun use. Who knows if there is some inner workings of mystery in that farm though.
THere's another thing. Remember how Hershell was being so optimistic when he was talking to Rick? Something about how humans always think it's the end of the world, but then it turns out they get through it.
I bet he thinks if he keeps his relatives "alive" they can be cured afterwards. When a cure is eventually found.
putting myself in "the groups" shoes... heck even without people recovering I'd chill for a few day's too. Going from atlanta to a seemingly regular farm would be like taking a vacation. I wouldn't be leaving until someone told me to hit the road.
I'm still baffled by the very Catholic-looking crucifix in the supposedly Baptist church... What was up with that???????
