The Worst Thing that's ever happened...

this:

Nothing to major but I just got my new custom Fbass. It was three days
old I think and I ran into something that knocked something else over into
the body of the bass. It left this little chip. I managed to sweat most of it
out then I just sanded it a bit and coated it with some wipe-on poly. You
can barely tell anything happened now. It just sucked at the time because
it was so new.

Sharp object fell from the top shelf of my closet onto the back of the neck of my SX PJ and took a quarter inch bite out of it. It doesn't really affect anything (yet) but I can feel it when I play and it makes me angry that it happened. Anywhere else on the bass besides the neck would have been fine with me.

Oh yeah, and the worst thing that I did to my bass, me personally, was drilling TWO holes in it accidentally when I was trying to make the pickup screws go deeper. I didn't notice I had poked through the first time, and then I went and did it again. They are both covered up with a sticker.

This is with the same bass as before.

Ok, so i have a Hartke starter bass(LOVE THAT THING!!) but back in the begging i hated it. So as soon as i got a new bass, i didnt know what to do with the hartke...so i hung it on the wall...then i got a dart board...the two were hanging next to each other, so the bass has taken more than its fair share of darts....and BB's!! lol...then the bottom strap button fell out, so i had to replace it with a MASSIVE screw :) and one time, i was playing the thing outside...i leaned it against a tree and was gonna come back in a little bit...but i forgot, then i went away for the weekend...it rained those 3 days!! i came home to the thing wet and covered in snails lol!! also, it has been dropped from lots of high places...i broke the truss rod, and messed with the Nut....Now i have a Capo over the nut to hold it and the strings in place....BUT!! i love that thing...now...and hooked it up with some sweet Dimarzios!! lol, best bass ever!
Okay, we need to see a picture of that bad boy!

My first bass was an EB3 copy, can't even remember the brand name, set neck, Pelham Blue, great playing bass really. Set it on the floor face up, stepped on the neck in a drunken stupor, snap crackle pop. I was very angry at myself over that one, but now I have about 20 basses, all nicer than that, so it all works out in the end.

I accidentally dropped my '82 Fender Jazz at a worship team practice in 1999, and the headstock hit the drummer's plexi shield on the way down. Shattered half of the nut, which had to be replaced (although it only cost $100 for the nut, a setup, and a new set of strings...). The only repair I've ever had to pay for ;)

played a gig at one of our favorite venues and was having a great time, swinging around and really feeling the vibe of the crowd when all of a sudden i hear my bass fuzzing in and out and crackling. I went to adjust the input when I realized what had happened: my input jack had fallen out of the bass, dragging my preamp and all the guts out with it!

needed a resolder, and some duct tape for punk rawk looks. Also the last time I used cable instead of my wireless.

We had a leak during a rain storm in the practice shed and this neck thru bass that was nowhere near water somehow absorbed enough moisture thru a flight case to have all the glue joints separate. My regular luthier asked if I'd been canoeing with it. Took it to another repair guy on the recommendation of a close friend where it got stolen. He didn't get much from me. 20 years ago my new used maple neck Jazz Bass got knocked over and broke a truss rod. Bad yes but it led to many upgrades and is one of the best basses I own. My latest custom Jazz Bass during the final setup had the two piece truss rod threads gall and after trying to get it loose so the neck would settle down. The aduster and part of the rod snapped off, which led to finger board removal and a new proper truss rod installed.Plays well but it hasn't really been the same since. Atleast I didn't drive over it with the van.
