The worst thing you have borrowed...

yeah... I just threw my last bass as I said before. It was my second Ibanez and I was getting sick of the dull tone. So I threw at a gig. Not considering my money issues, I used parts of it as weapons and sold them at the end of the show. Made some gas money. Now I am out of a bass and awaiting $800 to roll around for a new one. I am thinking G&L. But until then, I am borrowing washburns and aria's until the money comes in.

Seriously, If you have borrowed a bass at all in you career, what is the worst thing life has lead you to?? Please do tell. Comic relief seems the best remedy for my issue now.

What Ibanez was it? I have a BTB450 thats one of the best basses I've laid my hands on in terms of sound and feel, some of Ibanez's lower end stuff can be dull tho still good basses for the price.

IMO i'd be smarter next bass to buy, you should have made the right decision on your 2nd one.

BTW I would be nice enough to lend you my Peavey beater bass, i'd just kick your ass hard if you decided to hurt it ;)

He didn't break someone else's bass, he broke his POS Ibanez. Jeez...

Worst basses I ever played that were lent were bunches of old 70s Japanese basses that my bassist collects, or a raggety old MusicMan Stingray that should have been put out of its misery.

When I decided to start playing bass in my trio (with two other guitar players already), I quickly realized there's no way I can play my beautiful-but-impossible-to-play Kramer acoustic. Our piano/classical guitar player offered me a Skylark 4-string he had picked up second hand at a local music shop. I believe Skylarks are made for school bands or something, because the minute I picked it up I could tell it was a piece of s**t. I kept at it, though, and now after a year I not only know how to play (more or less), but I know exactly what bass I want, and will actually be picking it up next week! I just returned the Skylark to its rightful owner, and now Mr. keys can finally start messing around on it himself.

So TFG_low_end, a bad bass is better than no bass. And shame on you for throwing yours. (I can say that, I'm probably old enough to be your mother:D)

Please continue to purchase instruments and smash them. You are supporting the economy and the financial well-being of bass manufacturers. I would also highly recommend sending me money so that I can help guide your smashing tendencies. A modest fee of $100 per week will gain you a load of advice.

TFG_low_end did you ever play guitar?

As you remind me of the guitarists I know, never statisfied with their instrument because there just a bad player. In the end it doesn't matter wat bass you own, but how skillful you are. :rollno:

although i agree with what your saying i dont think you should be branding him a bad bassist just because he smashed a guitar i smashed an old squier onstage (it was beyond repair trust me) it was amusing as it took me 3 attempts but the crowd loved it

i once borrowed a bass at a gig it was a fender jazz bass MIA and to be honest i dont think i've played anything worse it was horrid i still to this day dont know what all the fuss is about them but one mans gold is anothers dirt
i wasnt ungratefull about it i bought the bloke a pint and we spent the rest of the night getting drunk it was a good night:bassist:

Sorry Wes it seems that we are not Laughing with you.

I once borrowed an older Squire-P and after shielding the pots, adjusting the neck and especially swapping strings guess what Better tone= better bass. Easy
