The "Yes, I Love JimmyM" Thread

Every time I struggle playing a passage in a song, I always assume it's my fretting hand screwing up. When I break it down and really figure out what's going on, I realize the problem is that I'm raking instead SA'ing the part. I then put in the time necessary to correct the raking problem til the part begins to sound fluid, rhythmic, and tight.

You can bet your favorite bass that I'm paying attention when I come across any of JimmyM's posts discussing technique.

Love is a strong word, but after Jimmy relented about my sandal wearing on-stage because the crowd looked healthy, I warmed up to him. And now this - we share the same hygenic approach - I will say I am definitely a fan. Seriously, he has good and interesting contributions here, TB would be poorer if he left us.

Oh, and he's right about GMO's. Funny how the "free market" goes away when it comes to labelling these things. Adam Smith said only an informed market can be a free market.

Label GMO food products! Then let the market decide.

if I didn't love Acouistic amps so adamantly..JimmyM could easily convert me to Ampeg..the opposite is not possible. I tried..He was respectful..gave me an even greater appreciation for him.

I am a carb and cafeinne fiend..with a 'healthy respect' for better eating..so I am on board with him on that issue as well.

Awesome! Ya, I won't get into it too much on here, but the whole Roundup gene splicing thing was just too much for me not to get involved with stopping GMO's from going too far. I get the whole cross-breeding thing, but I will never get splicing genes of a product that kills every living plant with food genes. I say if splicing Roundup into your food is so good for you, then let's see you pour a bottle of Roundup into a glass and drink it.

And actually, I don't know that I could convert you, bro. You love Acoustic amps, so if it's working for you, I'm not here to get you to switch. I definitely pimp my brand if you're on the fence ;) but if people prefer something else, I'm not looking to change their minds.

DANGED..KEYSTROKE MYSTERY..

...anyhow.. first real bas amp I tried around 1969, was an Ampeg SB-12 flip top.


To this day I can recall its warmth and tone..instant Mo-Town..or John Paul Jones.

Too bad my 'peers' convinced me to buy Kustom..LOL.. And then...I met Fred and his ACC 361..Never looked back....but that SB-12 is a fond memory...

Can't argue with the numbers...

I dare say..95%..back line bass amps in shows I have seen over DECADES..whether arenas or clubs have been AMPEG S V T...either single or double cab.

I have pretty much believed ever since..that all any manufacturer ever wanted to do amp-wise was to take the flip top sound..and make it louder..MUCH MUCH louder.

I totally read this in the voice of the late voice-over artist Don LaFontaine...ya know, the guy who often narrated movie trailers with the opening: "In a woooorld...".
