There must be something wrong

We all have fun on this forum poking fun at the insatiable human quality that compelles us to acquire more and more gear, but over the years I have discovered that when I can quench that desire and focus on what I have and not on what I want, only then do I feel truly satisfied and at peace. (My playing and practice time improves as well too I might add) I have to keep myself in check all the time. If you have been GAS free for so long I applaud you!

I'm 57 ... maybe it's my Low-T ... ! my GAS has slowly tremendously ... but at least now it's turned to cheaper stuff ... from overpriced sports cars and cool gear ... to mostly pedals and used basses/guitars and modding stuff ... !

could also be old age ... or just getting tired of the hunt ... I am on wife #3 anyways ... !!!

Well, I have to admit that I kind of burnt myself out on the purchase of my daughters new professional flute. I put 4 weeks of intensive learning and studying of flute gear and terminology and all that makes flutes a "good one".. Man, I thought I was a gear snob.. Flautists have got this entire forum beat by breakfast... Wow.. I think it burned me out a bit. I didn't even want to buy an amp cover for my new TC Electronics BG-250 112.. Tragic not to want to spend $40 on a cover.. Then researching Mallet Sticks for my percussionist son.. Eee Gads.. All my GAS has gone to my kids.. Left nothing for me

I wish I could find a cure for gas. It's been killing me/keeping me going for 12 years.I think I will have to try every pickup, cab, amp and pedal before it ever goes away.Thankfully my bass GAS is long gone. Its mostly amp gas now

I am finally GAS free. Of course, I am now deeply in debt... On the good side, though, I have a Stingray, SVT-VR, 2x 810AV and 2x 212AVs, 2x REDDI, Markbass Compressors. It really doesn't get much better than that.

No, that is one killer setup!

The only thing I really "need" is some ampage. All I have now is a 35 watt practice amp. I am hoping to get back into jamming with other people and gigging, but I am not sure how I'm gonna work out getting an amp. Might be a year before I am able to...

I gotta say, and I mean this sincerely--I'm holding back tears. I just cannot imagine. My old man is 80 and his memory (and other aspects of his health) are worsening, but he's still there. He's him, you know? My mother may well outlive all her children. She's made of granite and her great attitude has managed to help keep her youthful.

I feel so fortunate. I really cannot imagine what it must be like for you. I have been so lucky not to have been touched too much by tragedies involving the people closest to me. I've had my knocks, and have lost many friends and family members through the years, but MOM is just...just such a deep, ingrained archetype in a person's life.

I'm sorry, brother, I am rambling. Much mojo and good energy your way.

She may forget, but you will remember.
All my feelings for you both, this isnt a easy situation but take in mind the good moments, we always want one more shot, one more talking...

I haven't had gas for a bass since picking up my bee hornet 6 or 7 months ago...nor have i looked at amps since I realized that my eden wt-800c is about everything i could ever want in an amp...heck, i got my ampeg pr-410hlf cab for $130, used, at GC in AWFUL shape, and I'm not even looking for a cab...haven't looked at ebay, the classifieds here, nothing...totally satisfied...then I started trying out effects pedals...ughh...I NEED like 10 more and I've got one in mail right now, and I'm thinking about a compressor...I don't even know anything about effects, and they're all I think about :D

Here there's no need to buy anymore basses.

I congratulate you.

Mine shifts around. Once I buy an outstanding bass, I want the few others I own to sound as good, so go off buying and trying strings, which is definitely cheaper than buying basses. Or beautiful 'musical' compression pedals -- those are too expensive to go too far. I'm pretty well settled now.

Once I am satisfied with playability and tone, I do settle in and practice a lot more.
