There must be something wrong

You're in the eye of the storm.
tru dat. You've been hammered by gas in a frontal assault for a while which loosened your foundation. Now you think its over. LOL, really, LOL. When it comes back around its gonna hit you from behind and that loose foundation will give and then its all over but the crying.

Trust me I lived in NOLA for ten years I know what the funk I'm talkin about. kinda

I was GAS free for about 10 years or so, not playing much, had more than what I needed. Then I went to a concert and heard some amazing thick juicy synth bass and thought "I wonder how to do that on an actual bass." That was a little over 2 years ago, here's some of the results...

You just never know. In the meantime, enjoy the fine dining, expensive cars and vacations until the next GAS attack hits!!!!!

:beaver:Imma tell ya, I agree, iriegnome.

I now have the basses that I want and require. I really literally have no need for anything else now that I've got my fretless. I'm at 5 total. Perfect number if you ask me..

I have a usa SVT-CL with nice stack of neo 4x10s under it.

I have a fully loaded pedal board. (still gonna sell/buy a few pedals here and there in the future.

Other than a few aesthetic/component upgrades I honestly think I'm good for a long long time. Probably life. Except for getting a backup amp or something.

could be a depression. Go see a shrink.
Or it could be that it IS true what we promise ourselves everytime - that with this purchase, the herd will be complete and there will be no need for anything else.

My advice is to go out and play. Get into at least three bands. Visit concerts. Excange with other musicians. Practice a lot. As soon as you evolve more as a bass player, your needs will evolve likewise and with a little luck, you might be needing another bass soon.

Pedals are like crack to the GASaholic. They're cheap, small doses but you gotta keep buying more & more.

I was justing thinking about this. You are exactly right! I think Basses are like a bag of weed, you can just chill out for a month or 2 and not worry but Pedals really are like crack. Hell, I bought a Fuzz and a week later I had bought 3 more pedals.

I don't know if I'm GAS free, but I feel like I'm getting close. I've got a good rig and a good tool kit of instruments. I still get curiosity about trying out other basses, but anything that would be tempting to buy at this point would be expensive enough that it's not a realistic option any time soon. I have a thread about how earlier this week I had to simultaneously bring 4 instruments to the shop - two 5ers, a bass VI, and my acoustic guitar - which left me with 3 at home: a 4-string, a fretless AEB, and an electric guitar. And I realized that, while I have uses for the ones that were in the shop, I could be happy with just those.

Still, not there yet. I still have a yen to get a Rickenbacker some day. And I'm not quite happy with the compressor on my pedalboard...

I'm kinda the same way. GAS free. In the last couple of years (after years of rotating flavor-of-month/must-have stuff through here) I've been fortunate enough to have acquired 2 Wilkins PJ5's and an Ampeg V4b stack. I can't imagine what else I could possibly need or want. Seeing as how I do Country/Classics stuff I really don't use pedals other than a tuner and a wireless receiver.

I guess live gear is next...

GAS is a hobby. It's no different than people who collect stamps or classic cars. As such, if you do anything long enough, it'll get boring. It helps when hobbies can evolve over time -- such as the actual PLAYING of music, for example -- but you probably feel like you pretty much "seen it all" when it comes to gear at the moment.

after I put the Faital speakers in my rig, I just lost interest. Maybe because I play through them and not actually play them?? I am feeling a bit at a loss now.
I have 23 basses currently. down to 5 Modulus'.. Would love to run into a 4 and 5 string fretless, but currently not looking. No real ambition to do so.
Almost feel like selling off 8 or 10 of my basses. Either not unique enough or too unique. I have money, not worried about that.
BTW - At my age, Getting Lucky for me is remembering why I came into a room!! Ha... This whole non-GAS thing kind of sucks
