thickest bass strap there is.

Ya, I already mentioned it...the MSS24. I wrote Levy's about that big huge strap Tim C used to use because I wanted one really bad, but they said it was a very limited run and they're all gone now, but they directed me to the MSS24. LOVE IT!!! Tim's using it now, and so is Les Claypool.

By the way Boomie I just did a search and to find it on Levy's website you have to type in the correct number: MSS2-4

Nice strap! 4 1/2 inches wide and padded with foam! Nice!

But Cripes, Boomie, it's almost a C-note! For a honkin' bass strap? Some of my basses didn't cost that much! Hey buy one for that Radio Shack bass! :)

Most of my straps are kits from Tandy leather. They are wide on the top with two adjustable narrow belts out each end. Not as nice as the MSS2-4, but not too bad. They are kit's you are supposed "tool" etc. but I don't bother. I just bought a quart of black leather dye and sprayed them all black (except the one for my Red Gibson LP which I sprayed Red).

But in my experience the most comfort for the least cash can be found in the Carvin GS25 "Deluxe Strap". Wide and comfy and at $15 is nearly free! Only downside is the ugly "Carvin" printed on it in huge white letters.

Thank you everyone, I think I'll go with Levy's MSS2-4.

I got one last year for $60, and one a few years before for $50. I'll be the first to admit it's overkill for my Radio Shack bass ;) but it darn sure feels good with a Fender.

I'm looking for a strap that is 4", or even wider... Is there a strap wider than 4"? I was looking for strap like Tim Commerford uses, since I sometimes have problems with my neck and shoulders.

The Neotech strap looks nice, but the I saw that Levy's make a 4½" strap that looks even better.

I have the exact strap, and trust me, It's Wonderful! I have minor back issues, so it used to hurt while doing gigs, but now I feel fine all through night.

For me it's not about width but about how light it makes a bass feel. I've yet to find one that beats the neoprene ones (Neotech, & I think ComfortStrap uses that too).

I've a 3.5" thick leather one that improved remarkably once I rounded off the edges & got it softened up (neatsfoot oil & roll a sharp bend through the active part of the leather).

A local leathersmith can likely craft you a plain one for a fair price, at whatever width you'd like.
